My Mission Deanna Raeke Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent
Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Andrea Rosebrock Andrea has come onboard FTLTD to help out by contributing some stories and following-up with her "Justice Round-Up" series.
For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that. Please, won't you help me!

As holiday preparations get into full swing it’s time to take a moment to think about holiday decoration pet hazards. Sure we all love the twinkling lights and pretty ornaments, the glitter and glitz and all of this may be interesting to our pets too.
Some of these new additions for our homes may also be [...]

Uh oh, looks like I am going to be embarrassing myself rather publicly today (Saturday, 11/29) at about 2:30 EST. Leigh Foster of Pawz Cauze fame will be interviewing yours truly today on Radio Gets Wild.
If you’re interested, tune in and listen to the interview. If you miss it, it’ll be recorded and I’ll post [...]

An Arlington family has a message for a burglar: ‘keep all the possessions you took, just return the dog’. The Pyatts had been burglarized. The television, their wedding rings and other jewelry were all gone. But most shockingly, the thieves also took their puppy, Bella, from her cage. Bella is four-year-old Alysha Pyatt’s [...]

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor,
peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly,
so she wouldn’t be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel,
I blocked her view from a little accident I
had in [...]

In a move that has incited pet owners and animal advocates alike, CA Governor Schwarzenegger recommended broadening the Sales and Use Tax to include “luxury” items such as veterinary services. Since when is vet service a “luxury”?
As if it’s not bad enough that the economy has caused the foreclosure rates to skyrocket, leaving many [...]

A dog breeder in Otter Tail County, Kathy Bauck, was charged with animal abuse and torture. Her attorney argued video obtained by the I-TEAM and shot by an undercover investigator should be suppressed at her criminal trial.
Oh, I’m quite sure they do want the video suppressed, there’s no way for her to get off if [...]

For once a real sentence has been handed down on a heinous animal abuse crime! On July 30, 2007, then, 19 -yr-old, Nicholas Denmore was staying with his grandparents in St. Petersburg.
His grandmother saw him sitting outside and when he noticed he, he grabbed her little Yorkie, Dutchess and fled. The tiny dog was [...]

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty Tuesday to a state dogfighting charge, a move that could make him eligible to leave prison early and potentially speed up a return to pro football.
And this is the wake of a report released by the USDA’s inspector general-investigations division detailing more horrors;
The report, dated Aug. 28, 2008, [...]

One Old Saybrook, CT family has much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. They may have lost their home and all their belongings but they have their lives, thanks to an alert 7 yr-old black lab named, Homer.
Fire broke out in the house on Willard Ave around 3 am on Saturday morning. Wayne Provost, his [...]

This has got to be one of the most insane ludicrous things I have ever heard! Pasco, FL, resident, Henry Morgan, arrived home to find his house engulfed in flames. His family; wife and three children, were all safe but his pets, three dogs and a cat were still in the inferno.
Like me and many [...]
