My Mission Deanna Raeke Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent
Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Andrea Rosebrock Andrea has come onboard FTLTD to help out by contributing some stories and following-up with her "Justice Round-Up" series.
For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that. Please, won't you help me!

Ok my pupper friends, got some great advice for you to get your 2010 started the right way! Usually Bruti always get to give advice but his advice is the kind that can get pups into trouble so this time I get to give some excellent advice for pups to follow that won’t get them [...]

ALDF (Animal Legal Defense Fund) recently complied a report showing where the US states and territories rank based on their animal protection laws including the top and bottom five states. It’s quite an eye opener as it details specific strengths and weaknesses. It’s broken down into tiers; top, middle and bottom. Where does your state [...]

More evidence of insanity in this world when a waste of human life who abused, tortured and killed dogs, gambled and embezzled money, among other things, not only gets a multi-million dollar contract but also receives a Courage award. That’s right folks, our favorite piece of scum, Michael Vick, was recently awarded the Ed Block [...]

Here’s a heartwarming story I came across and thought would be special to share. It’s a tale we wish for all shelter dogs 365 days of the year. Not just at Christmas. Merry Christmas, and may all your wishes come true.
“Did you hear that?” the old dog shouted. They all ran to the front of their [...]

Good news for Puppy Mill opponents. In Pennsylvania, instead of breeding dogs, they’re “milking cows.” In an article appearing in the Lancaster Online, Edwin Zeiset, a kennel owner licensed to breed up to 500 dogs a year said he had no choice but to shut down. Pennsylvania’s new regulations are biting hard at dog breeders. [...]

California has been up to their elbows in Chihuahuas! All over California, Chihuahuas have been abandoned at shelters at an alarming rate. In the last 12 months, animal shelters in the city of Los Angeles have taken in 4,700 Chihuahuas, 1,000 more than the 12 months before that. That’s a lot of little dogs.
And who [...]

Sometimes when you catch a story, you’re not quite sure whether to class it as good news or bad and this is one of those. A dog disappears, the dog returns a week later with a gunshot wound that could have killed her and in the end, at least for David Lechen and his [...]

The count is up to 42 dead dogs and cats found buried on Sharon McDonough’s Seldon, NY property. Necropsies show evidence that some of the animals were tortured; duct tape around their mouths, signs of drowning.
District Judge Paul Hensley, in saying that, “There are indications this defendant did kill these animals. I believe [...]

As holiday preparations are in full swing it’s time to take a moment to think about holiday decoration pet hazards. Sure we all love the twinkling lights and pretty ornaments, the glitter and glitz and all of this may be interesting to our pets too.
Some of these new additions for our homes may also be [...]
