The Mount Kilimanjaro Dog

Imagine climbing the highest mountain in Africa, taking a short *personal* break before continuing, looking behind you, and finding a dog.

Might not seem strange, but these tourists were on the Uhuru peak situated 3 1/2 miles above sea level with temperatures between minus 4 and 15 degrees C (25 – 5 degrees F).  And dogs are not your usual flora and fauna that high up Mount Kilimanjaro.

I Want to QUIT!

I want to quit!

My health is bad. There are days I feel so terrible that I can barely move. My phone bills are outrageous, and I could have replaced my van with the funds I have spent these last 3 years—on animals that were not my own.

I want to quit!

I spend hours and hours emailing about dogs. There may be 500 messages when I start—and at 4 AM, when I finally shut down the computer, there are still 500 emails to be read.

I want to quit!

Gosh, I haven’t the time left to email my friends. I can’t remember the last book I read, and I gave up my subscription to my local newspaper- — I used to enjoy reading it, cover to cover, but now it often ends up under the kitty litter box — unread.

Oh Heavenly Dog

Since a few of you have rushed to Amazon.com to order Won Ton Ton, thought I would continue with another not-so-well-known dog movie. Oh Heavenly Dog is a 1980 comedy flick starring Chevy Chase, Jane Seymour, Omar Sharif, Alan Sues, and Benji.

Like Won Ton Ton it won no awards, got goofy scenes, nothing great about the plot or the performances, critics hated it, but a select audience (like me) love this movie.

Won Ton Ton

Here is the dog that launched a thousand stars. He saved a Hollywood production company from bankruptcy. He saved the girl! He had books, photo ops, autograph sessions, and his own personal masseuse.

He became the biggest star in 1924. He carried a budding Hollywood starlet and would-be Hollywood producer to the top of Fame, Fortune, and Glory.

Is he Strongheart? Rin Tin Tin? Who was this fabulous shepherd?
