Moe, we have always thought alike! I know they ARE one of God’s greatest gifts to us humans. They are our protectors, friends, companions, exercise buddy, and most of all our guardian angels. Their instincts are much greater than any human beings instincts; (remember Guardian Angels in Fur?)

People either get it or they don’t. The ones that don’t are not worth wasting our breath or time on.

See Susie, true animal lovers think alike. This is not a site for those who think “a dog is just a dog and an animal is just an animal”. It has been scientifically proven that so called animals have feelings just as humans do. Unless you truly know how to read your so called animal you wouldn’t know. But they have their way of letting us know things. In fact I think sometimes they are smarter than us. When I am sick they sense it and cuddle around me and become so loving and protective. We can learn a lot from our furry little friends and those that don’t want to learn don’t have any business having them. They are truly one of God’s greatest gifts.

@ Sarah, oviously you did not read the rest of the posts – then you would know how most of us on this site feel about “animals”.

Sarah, it sounds like your roommate was a total jerk with no regard for anything. It was your fault for putting up with this and not making things right. You can say “we have to remember they are animals”. Perhaps you are one of those people that say “it was just a dog”. Well, the people on this site don’t feel that way. My two little dogs are just as much human to me as I am. They have sweaters to go out into the cold (for potty). They get treats and baths and toys and the list goes on. I pay attention to them and notice when they act different and off to the vet they go, because they are most likely sick. If you really truly love them, they will communicate with you and you will see the signs. They are not just animals, they are a gift from God and I chose to them. Your friend sounds like the one who doesn’t care about you. I wouldn’t call her a friend, especially if she put my life in danger. But to clear the air, our fur babies are not “just animals”. I think I also speak for most of the people on this site. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

As much as I love dogs and animals in general we have to remember they are animals. Dogs are not the greatest creatures us humans are. Dogs should be treated with much care and love as long as they are not putting someone else’s life in danger. My ex-roomie was a chain smoker and smoked in our apartment despite my constant reminder that I was asthmatic, almost died. However, as soon as she brought a puppy home she started smoking outside.

you’re right, Briella, I know a girl in the UK who lost her job, then her home, all she had was a car and a lot of cats and dogs, so they lived with her in that car until she got back on her feet, she never abandoned them. she truly loves her babies. we don’t toss our children just because times get rough.

the place to teach them would be those pet stores that are selling life, how many of those babies end up in the shelters? how do people not know today what happens when they dump that poor soul? no one should be allowed to enter without watching the vid. the internet has exposed so much abuse, yet so many still say, well I had no idea.
and now, with the holiday coming up, how many toys will come in the form of a live animal? no matter what I say to friends, I still hear “I got a pup at petland today”
It chills me to think of the future.
then soon after will be bunnies for Easter, kittens from ferals and dumped Momma cats, there is no end to the neglect.

The ONLY TRUTH here that NO ONE mentioned in their comments….Is that those poor furry children were abandoned because of one reason,and one reason only: They were NEVER TRUELY LOVED by those so called humans.All they were was just a possesion/ a thing/ just like a piece of furniture or decoration in the house/ just a TOY for their kids…..These heartless-CRUEl “humans” NEVER saw them for what they TRUELY are…..LIVING BEINGS–that were attatched to them and the entire family…..and children too( It’s already proven that their I.Q. is equavalent to a toddler.).
ALL these LAME-LUDACRIS “reasons” are just cover ups to the TRUTH.And the TRUTH is much more ugly,that those dogs or cats were NEVER LOVED…..to begin with.The ONLY reason to ever leaving a dog or a cat in a shelter or anywhere else is if you Loose your house—-LITERALY!!!! If you NO longer have a roof above your head. But even with this reason….if you TRUELY love your dog(s) or Cat(s) you would taken them with you anyway,even if the only place u got is under the bridge.I know I would,I LOVE my dogs,they are EVERYTHING to me,can NOT live without them…..No WAY!!!! They are the MOST special beings that I have in my life….They are ANGELS in disguise….sent from up above=Heaven. Hell NO!!! I would NEVER be able to live without them.And this is because I TRUELY Love them.
For those DISGUTING humans…..it is SOOOOOOOOOO EASY to get rid of them…..Of COURSE! They NEVER love the dog to begin with…..was just a thing that they had….and don’t want anymore.

This is such a sad but thruthful video. On my adoption application form, I have questions that must be answered, such as, “what if you have to move, what are you intentions with the dog you are adopting”, just as to avoid any problems with them saying they have to move, and cannot take the dog with, or to have them just abandon the poor thing. My adoptors ask me why I ask questions like that, and I explain it to them plain and simple, that the dog does not need to be given up again, and with them adopting him/her, I want to be assured that this dog will be able to live out its natural life with them in a loving environment.

These four leggers are a big commitment, but then so are two legged children. If the general population would think before they act, we might not have as many abandonded dogs/cats. It’s funny, because we will not travel anywhere on a vacation unless our dogs are welcome. They are family, and are treated as such. Our friends say that most people don’t treat their children as well as our boys are treated.

My kids tell me constantly that I treat the dogs better than I did them as children LOL!!!

Yeah. Sit people down during the application process and make them watch the video. Also play it for them as a service orientation when pets are surrendered.

“I am remodeling”. If I ever hear someone utter THAT excuse for getting rid of an animal, there would be hell to pay.
