As an owner of two wonderful Pitties I have become a staunch allie for their cause. If people would just take the time to find out what the breed is really like, instead of buying into the media hype, these babies would actually stand a chance. But, unfortunately most people just think they are what the media describes. As a matter of fact, just this past Saturday, my neighbor (a man of the cloth, no less) threatened to shoot one of my dogs! Just because of his breed!! I have been frantic ever since. Anyway, thanks for the post and for always reminding people to punish the deed, not the breed! I just wanted to thank you for posting this and thank Dawn for writing it! I have so many friends with pitties and who work with them who all say the same thing. Pit bulls are wonderful dogs, one of the best breeds that I have ever owned. I hope everyone can see that the dogs that people consider "bad" are really good dogs that have been trained to do bad things...for if they were bad dogs they would not obey their owner. These are the best dogs, because for a little praise and for a little food they will die to please their owner. What other dog would die, suffer abuse, wounds, and excruciating pain..all for a loving word from their master. Just think what a decent owner can do with a dog that has such a desire to please...there is no limit to the good that these dogs can do simply because of their desire to please.
