Really? General Barksdale's dog is a famous haunting of Gettysburg. William Barksdale's temporary grave was on the Hummelbaugh Farm and the house still stands today at Gettysburg.

Visit Gettysburg around the Fourth of July. You may have a special greeting...from the other side.

I am a big believer in spirits visiting, and believe that our beloved dogs who have passed on have visited us. This was a great post D., and the graphics were fabulous.

Hope everyone had a safe Halloween, especially our four leggers. It is always so hard on our little ones.

Awesome post D! Great stories for sure. I do believe in ghosts, earthbound angels and visiting angels. I know that our furbabies have souls just as we do, and of course they will come to visit as well. Loved the graphics too! Here's to a cruelty-free happy Halloween for everyone!

A few years ago I lost two of my beloved companions leaving me and their 3 siblings behind. One night, while laying in bed with all 3 dogs, we all heard the distinctive sound of paws walking on the floor of the crates in the next room. A couple of the dogs got up to investigate so I knew I was not hearing things. Of course, nothing was there. I never knew which of the dogs had come to pay a visit.

Great article D and wonderful graphics to go with it.

Great post and such wonderful graphics! As someone who has had the odd sensation of a beloved dog settle on her legs in bed, along with the trademark mighty sigh, only to reach down to encounter empty space and suddenly remember that he had passed on weeks earlier I appreciate the idea that pets too live on. This still happens occasionally, it seems to distress my other dogs a bit, one will stare into that empty space and whine timorously. Life is strange and sometimes wonderful. Happy H.
