Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent

Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Talking Dog Talk – A Little On Dog Body Language – VIDEO

Our dogs talk to us all the time but of course they don’t have voices to speak like we do so they send their cues through their barks and body language.  Some canine body language is easy to figure out but some is a little more difficult.  A wagging tail is not always the sign [...]

Canine Socialization, More then Just Meeting Other Pooches – VIDEO

Generally when we think of canine socialization, we think about taking our canine companion out to be around other dogs to give them a chance to interact and learn how to be around other dogs in a well behaved manner.  And yes, this is definitely important but there is more to canine socialization than just [...]

Does Your Dog Have “Excessive Greeting Disorder” – VIDEO

I know that whenever I come back from anywhere, my babies are so happy and excited that they can’t stay still. Getting them to “sit nicely” is an impossibility, they’re wiggling and waggling so hard that they can’t plop their butts down for more than a few seconds but.. but… they do not jump [...]

Got a Beggin’ Dog? Here’s Some Help – VIDEO

When they’re puppies, it’s cute to see them beg and you can’t resist giving them little treats but begging can turn into a problem and there’s lots of table scraps you shouldn’t feed your canine companion.  The more you give in to their begging, the more you reinforce the behavior.  But what about if you [...]

An Important Bit of Dog Training – “Drop” – VIDEO

Dogs love to chew but too often they wound up chewing on something they shouldn’t.  Teaching your dog to “drop” on command is a lesson that could not only save possessions but also your dog’s life if they get a hold of something dangerous.  This can be one of the most important lessons you will [...]

“The Guilty Look” – Does it Mean Your Dog is Really Guilty?

If you have dogs, you’ve seen it, “the guilty look.”  You see a mess and look at your furry family member, maybe ask if they did it and you get it and it confirms their guilt.  The question is, is your dog actually feeling guilty or is “the guilty look” a response to you; your [...]

Gloves Missing for 2 Years Finally Found!

Now we all know that sometimes dogs eat strange things, often whatever they can get their mouths around.  Just imagine if you took your dog to the vet for its annual checkup and the vet called and told you that your pet had a tumor and would need surgery.  Scary!

Well, this was the case for [...]

Guardian Angels in Fur

Now this is a very special story for me that I wanted to share for a couple of reasons.  First is because it is from one of our very own readers and friends here and secondly, because I was actually “there” through the past few months when much of the most recent took place.  This [...]

Dogs as Models for Human Behavior, Dogs & Humans Think Alike – VIDEO

Studies into dog behaviors usually reveal interesting insights, some of them dogs owners already know but some of them can surprise even us.  This is something that I’ve seen but never really thought about and now that I’ve found out more, certain things really “click” for me.

Physiologically speaking, humans and chimps are closer to each [...]

The Right Training Makes All The Difference – VIDEO

From little problems to annoying habits, it’s never too late to employ some good training methods and turn your furry problem child into the well mannered furry family member everyone will be able to enjoy. Now, I love my babies but even I cannot deny that a little training in some areas would be [...]
