A mother’s love is an amazing thing, whether you are human or animal. We’ve heard the stories of mother’s lifting cars to save their children. Well, here’s one from the animal kingdom. A pooch gets its comeuppance when it decides to play with a baby and the baby’s momma is, needless to say, not happy.

Some people have a problem with dressing dogs and pets up, others love it. Personally I think if the dog doesn’t have a problem with it and it doesn’t impede movement or cause any problems, it can be okay. So I thought I would share this just for smiles and tickles.

Pets hit the world famous Copacabana beach in fancy dress as a carnival for pets and their owners takes place in Rio de Janeiro. For the event, the pets, which were predominantly of the K9 variety, came in fancy dress, with many of the dogs dressed as angels, bats and racing drivers. The so called carnival for animals and their owners has been held in Rio for the past seven years in the run-up to the world famous Rio carnival, which kicks-off on February 22.

Now this is just too precious!  Seems this tiny little fawn followed the beagle home, making its way into the house through a doggie door.  This supposedly happened in the Bittinger, MD area and the pictures are what the home owner found when they arrived home and found the tiny visitor had made itself right at home.

Now this is a story and these are pictures you definitely won’t see every day! Petri, a pelican at an exotic bird farm in Germany was getting ready to enjoy a snack when Katjinga, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, raced in and snatched Petri’s food in midair.

‘I was preparing food for the birds in our outdoor kitchen, when I noticed Petri at my side looking for a snack,’ explained 38-year-old Roland Adam who runs the farm. ‘I decided to feed her one of the chicks I had been preparing when Katjinga raced in, caught the frozen bird mid-air and gobbled up Petri’s dinner.’

Petri wasn’t too happy with Katjinga and made a valient attempt to retrieve his dinner.

‘It was hilarious,’ laughs Roland. ‘We have so many animals on the farm that they are very tame and at ease with each other. ‘Katijinga is no different and she was more than happy to allow Petri to come in for closer inspection.’

“You see a lot of things on my farm but I have never seen anything like this before and I just had to get my camera to prove it was real,” he said. “But I suppose when it came down to it, Katijina was just too quick.”

Time for a smile so here’s your thought for the day….

Most of us tend to think our dogs are pretty smart and on occasion they have even been known to outwit us, at least temporarily. So how can you tell if your dog is really smart… maybe even smarter than you? Here’s a few indications…

1. Neighbors complain about loud music and howling coming from your apartment in the middle of the day when you’re at work
2. You find mysterious sculpture of a human (who looks strikingly like you) on a leash in your living room
3. Ice floating in toilet water
4. Neighborhood cats bring dog treats to your doorstep
5. Friends swear they’ve seen your car at the local meat-processing plant and you know you didn’t go there
6. You can never find the leftovers
7. The remote is covered with slobber, and the TV was left on Animal Planet
8. The dog doesn’t lick itself anymore… now it’s the cat’s job
9. Mensa mailings addressed to “Rover”
10. Your apartment keys no longer work

It’s a given that different religions disagree with one another on certain subjects but this is one disagreement that took a most amusing turn.

I’ve looked at this a number of times since I got it and still find myself laughing at the end. I just hope they were all having a chuckle too, would be a shame if not….
