I guess McCune, KS, Mayor, Don Call, initially thought he was probably going to be able to just walk away after shooting and killing 2 of Duane Wahl’s dogs in February. He had threatened to shoot them if they were ever running loose and a child said they were chasing him so the father, instead of calling the police or animal control, called the Mayor. Mayor Don Call grabbed a 9mm semi-automatic rifle, drove to the area and while driving around the block 3 times, firing each of the 3 times he drove by the home, killing the two dogs who were safely chained up in the owners yard at the time.
“I told him that if he did not want to take care of the dogs, that I was going to shoot them the next time,” Call said regarding Wahl’s dogs. “I said that I was through playing this game and he was going to take care of them and that was back in January.”
“A witness says he drove around the block, shot a few more rounds, drove around a third time, came back and shot a few more times,” said Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton.
On Monday in Crawford County District Court, after a preliminary hearing at which Call pleaded not guilty, District Judge Don Nolan said there was enough evidence and bound him over for trial.
“That was an act that took some degree of time,” Nolan said. “If you acted with maliciousness, that is to be determined by trial.”

Looks like Corpus Christi, TX and the sentencing Judge, Judge Martinez, don’t give a damn about dogs or animals and don’t take animal abuse very seriously. Wastes of human life, 44-year-old Daniel Luna and 45-year-old Norma Luna, who abandoned this once beautiful German Shepherd, Shepp, to suffer a cruel and painful fate, were charged with 4 counts of animal cruelty; not feeding Shepp properly, not providing sufficient water, providing no medical attention for the dog’s injuries, and allowing Shepp to be tied up at an unoccupied property, misdemeanor charges.
They could have faced jail time but good ole Judge Martinez, in a plea deal, sentenced them to one year probation and $900 in fines!!!
A year probation and a fine!! You’ve got to be kidding me!! This poor dog suffered in the sweltering heat for a month, little to no food and water, bone protruding, open sores, maggots and they got a year’s probation!! OMG!! Where the hell is the justice in that??

Look at these faces! These are the faces of heartless monsters who are getting away with killing, with torture. I am so angry and incensed that I can barely write! I am beginning to think they need to take the word “justice” out of the phrase justice system!
Take a moment to read Shepp’s story, to watch the video and if you still have dry eyes, I will be amazed! HERE

The POS pictured on the right is David Santuomo, 43, a Columbus, OH, firefighter who last December wanted to go on a cruise with his girlfriend but did want to pay for boarding for his two adopted dogs, Sloopy and Skeeter. So to save himself some money, he took his dogs into the basement, tie them to a pipe suspending their bodies and shot them both numerous times. He then dumped their bodies on the plastic he had already laid out, wrapped them up and dumped them in a trash bin behind the fire station where he worked. What makes this even sadder is that at least two neighbors had offered to watch the dogs while he was away.
This week, as part of a plea deal, Santuomo pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty and one count of possessing a criminal tool a homemade silencer, all three misdemeanors. Franklin County Municipal Judge Harland H. Hale sentenced him to 90 days, to be served over 2 years, $4,500 in restitution, $150 fine, 200 hours of community service and he cannot possess any pets or firearms for 5 years. He also has to write a letter of apology to a firefighters magazine and to readers of The Dispatch newspaper. He has yet to face an internal disciplinary hearing with Fire Chief Ned Pettus Jr.
Felony charges were not pursued because there is no felony animal cruelty law in Ohio!!

Unbelievable!! After seizing 28 dogs from a South Dallas home, animal services returns the dogs to the owner even though pictures of the animals show the dogs to be emaciated and covered with sores.
Is this the way an animal shelter is supposed to operate? Look at the pictures of these dogs and if you can come up with one sane, reasonable reason why they would be returned, please, tell me!
They were not treated for their numerous wounds and open sores, they were not spayed and neutered which is supposed to be mandated, they were not microchipped which is supposed to be mandate. No animal cruelty investigation was ever initiated. Two days after 28 dogs, dogs in terrible shape, living in horrendous conditions, all but one were returned to the owner. And no only were 28 emaciated, injured dogs found, there were also the remains of dogs that were left to die, just piles of bones. And they returned dogs!! I just do not even know what to say about such unbelievable incompetence!!
Whoever made the decision to return those poor dogs needs to be charged with animal cruelty because that’s exactly what this was! This shelter needs to be investigated and a serious overhaul undertaken. If dogs found in these conditions, in this shape, is considered acceptable, what does count as abuse? If pile of bones, dogs left to die, is not considered abuse, what is??

Robert Allen Fullmer, 54 of Talent, OR was facing three counts of felony aggravated animal abuse after he killed 5 puppies that were left in his care. Tired of caring for the puppies of his roommate who was incarcerated, he killed the 8-week-old lab puppies, stuffed them in plastic bags and then they were dumped at Southern Oregon Humane Society in a plastic container.
His sentence of 40 days in jail, 35 of which had already been served prior to sentencing, and two years probation, is just another travesty of justice for animals and a slap on the wrist for an animal abuser!
“It’s a slap on the wrist,” said Sally Mackler, director of Spay/Neuter Your Pet. “Studies show that people who do these kinds of things to animals often will go on and do these kinds of things to people.”
Prior to the plea agreement, Fullmer was facing five counts of felony first-degree aggravated animal abuse, five counts of first-degree animal abuse and possession of methamphetamine. Fullmer was jailed 35 days ago on $250,000 bail. He will be in jail for five more days, Markiewicz said.

Looks like the El Paso, TX, soldier, Frank Zimmerman, who brutally stomped on and killed one adopted dog, Tinkerbelle, and beat another, a little puppy, Wrigley, and shattered his leg, is going to get what amounts to little more than a slap on the wrist from the military.
There will be no justice for Tinkerbelle or Wrigley nor will there be any answers about the two dogs he adopted shortly before them who died in Zimmerman and his wife’s care. There will be no just for the another two dogs that were adopted, after the 2 puppies wound up dead, and returned to the rescue. They were actually the lucky ones. When they were returned after two days it was obvious they had been traumatized and abuse but at least they are alive and physically uninjured.

Excellent news here! Some canny, determined investigation, an anonymous tip and a MySpace account have led authorities to the woman who dumped a critically injured dog off at the Dickson Human Society and sped away.
Marie Radabaugh must have thought she was in the clear after she dumped the Lab/collie mix out of her van and took her but a determined Human Society worker wasn’t going to let it go. Melissa Lee chased after the van but wasn’t able to catch up with it so she took out a full page ad in 5 local newspapers. A tip led her to MySpace where she found Radabaugh and pictures of Hania.
Radabaugh told authorities that Hania was found as a stray, already injured but the pictures posted on her MySpace account bely that. When Hania was dumped, it was obvious that she had recently just had puppies. Pictures posted on her MySpace account show Hania with her puppies and show her uninjured as well. This pictured will be able to be used as the basis for the first ever case of animal cruelty prosecuted n Dickson County.
“We took the information that was given to us, and we ran with it,” said Lee. “The picture speaks 1,000 words.

One of the many tax cuts Gov Schwarzenegger is proposing is one that has been previously defeated but I guess he hopes that Californians who are feeling the pinch will let it get through this time, is to kill animals at shelters faster. He wants to cut the hold time on strays and lost pets from 6 days to 3 days, saying it will save the state $24.6 million.
In 2004 this measure was defeated by animal loving Californians, will it pass now? Are Californian so desperate to close the deficit that they’re going to kill the voiceless, the innocent, the defenseless… just for the almighty buck?
“Obviously monies need to come from somewhere, but to do it on the backs of these animals is just really sad,” Kiska Icard, a spokeswoman for the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.
Shelter animals have so little chance now, they are killed daily by the thousands. This fine thread of hope is all so many have and now he wants to take this away.
Oh, and don’t forget his attempt tax vet care as a “luxury” item either. Schwarzenegger doesn’t seem to like animals and pets very much, does he? Use them to make or save money, forget they are living, breathing, feeling creatures!
And not only will California animals and pets suffer, his cuts will also hit of segments of society that can take the hit the least; the elderly, schools, children, disabled. But he seems to have no problem with the $4-5 billion annually that goes to illegal immigrants.

Looks like Newport New, VA cop, Rashad I. Brown, 32, is gonna walk free and clear since the city voluntarily withdrew its animal cruelty charges against him. And I thought I couldn’t get much angrier over this then when the Judge returned the two abused dogs back to this POS with their fresh bruises and abrasions that a vet treated.
On March 16, responding to a neighbor’s complaint that they witnessed a man kicking one of dogs, and heard him beating another, animal control officer Angie Gromlich went to Brown’s St. Thomas Drive apartment only to be confronted by an arrogant and belligerent Brown siccing his dog, Lilly, a Labrador retriever on her. Brown was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty and could have faced a maximum of 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
