My Mission Deanna Raeke Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent
Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Andrea Rosebrock Andrea has come onboard FTLTD to help out by contributing some stories and following-up with her "Justice Round-Up" series.
For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that. Please, won't you help me!

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I remember Phoenix, the poor innocent little pitbull that was doused with gasoline and set on fire in Baltimore in May. My friends, you remember Robert Suttles of Somerset, KY, the monster who brutally tortured his dog, Bowser by poisoning him with antifreeze, letting him suffer for days laying in the yard then kicked the dog to death and burned his body? We all fought so hard, emails, calls, letters, a petition, to have the charges [...]

Wisconsin is one of the states that basically has no regulations when it comes to commercial dog breeders and organizations have been fighting for years to keep it that way. This year a puppy mill bill is working it way through. The bill, AB-250, provides for licensure for anyone or any kennel that sells 25 [...]

In a report released on October 19 to Congress, The Commission on Military Justice says that criminal charges should be brought against those in service that abuse, kill or abandon their pets. They ask that specific language be placed in The Uniform Code of Military Justice that makes Animal Cruelty towards non-public animals a crime.

There is a heartbreaking story out of Kern County, CA; two pitbull puppies were found within two months of each other, doused with acid or some acid-like chemical, abandoned and left to die suffering and in pain.
