My Mission Deanna Raeke Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent
Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Andrea Rosebrock Andrea has come onboard FTLTD to help out by contributing some stories and following-up with her "Justice Round-Up" series.
For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that. Please, won't you help me!

Spring is almost here. Today we turned our clocks ahead for Daylight Savings Time. And with spring, we’ll all head outside for some spring cleaning. It’s not that different here at For The Love Of The Dog blog, we do our own discarding of the trash. And some real trash is just up ahead. However, [...]

And I thought this might be a quiet week. Last week we had the tootsiebell who tossed a puppy out into oncoming traffic. This week we have another woman who is a total abomination. Maria Aguilar of Queens, New York has been arrested on charges of beating a dog so badly that the animal is [...]

After seven long months of legal wrangling, egos, and judicial reprimands, Miles Thomas has been reunited with his dog, Baron. It took a mediated session last month by Magistrate Judge Martin C. Carlson Thomas to finally end the legal stalemate. Officially, Miles Thomas and the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area Inc. have agreed to a [...]

This here is Heather O’Kelley, the *friend* of the Fort Bliss family who trusted her with Sadie. Heather O’Kelley was arrested on charges of animal cruelty on February 3rd. When these idiots are caught, I can tell you verbatim what they say. And O’Kelley sung the age, old tune. “I’m innocent. Sadie wasn’t my dog. [...]

Bobby Loggins, who last summer, punched his five-month-old American Bulldog 30 times in the face – killing it, has been convicted of Animal Torture. In Iowa, Animal Torture is an aggravated misdemeanor that carries a sentence of up to two years in prison. Just this past Friday, Judge Gary E. Wenell sentenced Bobby Loggins to 365 [...]

River, the elusive, vagabond dog we reported previously has been rescued. The cagey little pup gave up life on the run and is now safe and sound. She will be examined by a vet and a permanent home will be sought for her. She certainly gave residents out near Tucson’s Riliato River a run for [...]

Working dogs for the Vancouver Winter Games are being outfitted with some uber-protection gear that can protect against bullets, Molotov cocktails, and a variety of knife blades. These canine vests also contain a wireless camera, speakers and an integrated microphone that allow the dog’s handler to see and issue commands via an integrated audio system. Packed [...]

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! It’s the second biggest eating day of the year with parties galore, multi-million dollar commercials shown exclusively for the game, and this year’s half-time act is The Who. Even those like me who don’t know the difference between a touchdown and a field goal, will be watching the game on TV.
But [...]
