My Mission Deanna Raeke Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent
Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Andrea Rosebrock Andrea has come onboard FTLTD to help out by contributing some stories and following-up with her "Justice Round-Up" series.
For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that. Please, won't you help me!

Well, she’s recovered from her injuries and after some time spent at a special rescue at an undisclosed location where she and other dogfigthing victims have [...]

These two young boys pictured here are Alphonzo Harris and Gregory McDonald and they are only 10 and 12-years old. They’re also both facing felony charges for animal cruelty, dog fighting and baiting and they’re blaming getting into dog fighting because they’ve seen videos on YouTube.
The Orange County, FL Sheriff’s department responded to a [...]

More evidence of insanity in this world when a waste of human life who abused, tortured and killed dogs, gambled and embezzled money, among other things, not only gets a multi-million dollar contract but also receives a Courage award. That’s right folks, our favorite piece of scum, Michael Vick, was recently awarded the Ed Block [...]

This sweet little pitbull girl was found curled in a ball, covered in scars and open wounds, whimpering and shivering beside a wooded area next to Smithfield Road near Turtle Park Parkway. Here’s some updates on a few cases that I’ve previously covered; we’ve got a small measure of justice, some potential justice and what will probably amount to a slap on the wrist but at least justice in a guilty verdict.

Jimmy Lovell and the Little Brown Dog Dragging
Senior Convicted of Beating Dog [...]

In September, after 4 days of incessant barking, Greene County Animal Control seized 30 dogs from the Hookerton, NC property of Christopher McKinney, 35. Two more dogs were found at another location. Many of the dogs were without food, water or shelter, many cooped in cages, others tied down with heavy chains.
McKinney was facing [...]

Lefferreio Sudds, 17, pled guilty to two counts of felony animal cruelty and torture for setting fire to two dogs on April 4. He will serve four years in prison.
The two charges of animal cruelty were enhanced because the judge accepted fire to be a deadly weapon.
One of the burned dogs was male, and the [...]

As I’m sure most of you have already heard, the Supreme Court is deciding whether the First Amendment covers such things as dog fighting videos and other acts of animal cruelty. Will they strike down the 1999 that makes it illegal to sell film depicting animal cruelty? The law, 18 U.S.C. § 48, originated in [...]

And who says crime doesn’t pay? Looks like it’s paying off bigtime for convicted felon, dog killer, embezzler Michael Vick! Now only is he back in the big bucks with his NFL contract with the Philly Eagles, he getting free goodies from Nike (and maybe more, who knows?), now BET is giving with killer his [...]
