My Mission

Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

If It Should Be Time to Say Goodbye

My Boomer - gone these 4 years - I still miss you everyday!

There comes a time when time grows still and the end draws near
that we must show our deepest love and most heartfelt commitment
to one who has always shown us only love and loyalty.

It will be the hardest thing we ever have to do but in the end, the most loving.
That time is when it is time to say goodbye to our beloved furry companion.

Hold them forever in your heart but release them from their pain.
Lead them to their eternal salvation, gently, lovingly.

Let them see not the tears on your face as you say goodbye
But joy as you give them the finest gift, peace.

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We’ve had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You’d not want me to suffer so;
The time has come — please let me go.

Take me where my need they’ll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Please do not grieve — it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We’ve been so close, we two, these years;
Don’t let your heart hold back its tears.

I held you as a puppy when you cried,
I nursed you when you were sick,
You licked my tears from my face when I was sad.

I released you because I love you,
This world no longer your playground.
You memory will forever live
In my heart where you will never die!

This is dedicated to my Boomer, gone now almost four years. His passing from this world was a sin and a shame and no fault of his own, a story that weighs still too heavily on my heart. I try daily to take solace that he is in a better place and hope that he holds the love in his heart that I felt for him through his life.

I still shed tears at his passing from my life as does most anyone who has lost a beloved canine companion, but he will forever live on in my heart as one of the most special of dogs that I was ever fortunate to share my life with.
