Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Who Let the Dogs Out? VIDEO

A trio of pooches decided to take a nice stroll along the Schuylkill River Wednesday. The only problem was that they chose to do it on the highway. Traffic was snarled during rush hour while police tried to coax the pups off the road. Some stranded drivers even fed the strays while they awaited animal control. After about an hour, the dogs were taken away and the road reopened.

Thankfully these dogs were rescued safely and motorists were patient and helpful. Now let’s just hope they all find good homes. That would be a really happy ending to this story!

LOL Andrea! I’m sure a lot of people were having just the opposite reaction but thankfully there was enough who cared to make this a good story rather than what it could have been. :)

Andrea, Never happens on the roads I travel either. I just happen to keep a few extra leads in the van, my quick change flats, dog cookies, and a crate!

Hopefully they will all find good homes, would be a hoot if they all stayed together, adopted by the same family. Better get good locks for the gates tho.

Susie has the right idea – keep those extra “rescue” items in the car/trunk, cause we never know when we will need them. I read recently where an “on the front lines” rescuer keeps a set of flares or highway CONEs in her car to stop the traffic, well..to keep from getting run over too. The sight of a dog, and in this case dogs, on a busy highway sends chills up my spine – It happens too often that people DON’T stop or slow down at all., and it is the most horrible event I think I can encounter. So thankful there were so many compassionate, helpful folks on this highway who saved the dogs. Knowing they were saved – I was thinking..they were just too darn cute, and lucky also. Do hope the precious little fellas get good homes.

Do I see a boxer in this picture? They are very lucky indeed! I too, hope they get a home together. They must be best friends, the way their hanging out together. Too cute. So should we name them???? How about….”Lucky”, “Freedom”, and “Joy”. Because, they certainly are! I’m so glad there were many caring, helpful people there to assist in getting them some help.
