For the “Love of the Dog” is a phrase that comes from the heart of all dog lovers.  Dog lovers, big, small, young, old, or famous can’t resist a quote or two about our best friends.

Here is a collection of quotes from some recognizable names.

“Dogs were not put on earth to pose, prance, sit, point, and have their coats shampooed. They were created to chew dog_quotes_1shoes, bark at cars, have accidents on the rug, and get their tummies scratched.” – Roger Ebert (co-host of Siskel and Ebert At the Movies)

“These dogs [in New York City animal shelters] need more than the sighs and brush-offs of snobby upper-east-siders who would never bring themselves to visit their local shelter.”  – Paul Sorvino (TV and Movie actor known for his roles in Law & Order, Goodfellas, and Oliver Stone’s Nixon)

“I’ll never forget being near the levee that broke and seeing this white dog come running up. It really broke my heart to think about a displaced family wondering about their dog.
