Just a Note….
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and holiday, safe, happy and healthy. A special thanks to those who sent me warm holiday wishes, it meant a great deal to me to hear from you.
Christmas here in WI was lovely, quiet and peaceful. Jezzie and Bruti got to spent plenty of time playing in the snow and last nite we got a couple more inches which they had a blast running around in and dragging into the house. They enjoyed more then even their usual share of yummy goodies and doggie treats.
As 2009 comes upon us, for many people it is a time to reflect on the year past and for our canine companions it has been quite a year. I don’t want to spend the time to reflect of the horrors but to think about some of the changes that 2008 has wrought. Slowly but surely laws are improving, now if the judicial system would just keep up. People are becoming more and more aware of the atrocities that are happening and instead of ignoring them, actually picking up the phone and calling the police.
We do need to realize that, yes, we all are our brother’s keeper, even if our “brother” is just the dog next door sitting in the cold, alone and abandoned.
This year we have seen an incredible increase in puppy mills being closed down and dogs being rescued and given a second chance. More dogfighting rings are being busted than ever. It’s sad that these thing even exist as we work to get the word out, each and every one of us in out own way, more people will stop ignoring and start doing something.
The economy is bad and there doesn’t seem to be a break. I have a feeling that things will get worse for a while and this not only affect us, but the pets and companion animals. Home foreclosures are at an all time high and along with that, abandoned pets and surrendered pets. Shelters and rescues are having a harder time than they ever have with donations at an all time low and needs increasing every day.
I know that for many of us, times are tough but if you can do anything for those who cannot do for themselves, any little thing will mean a lot.
So for now I want to close with the warmest of holiday wishes for a wonderful new year. I thank you all for your continued support and hope you will stick around and share 2009 with me. Our love for our loyal and loving canine companions is without end and our mission continues.
And from my babies, Jezzie and Bruti, lots of tail wags, wiggles and sloppy kisses to you and yours!
As always, I invite you to share your thoughts, ideas, wishes, stories…. I love your comments, keep them coming. You are all a big part of what I do here everyday. Just knowing that you are reading, sharing, caring, helps to make it worthwhile.
