Danny, blind puppy no moreIn a heartwarming and touching story, a 4-month-old puppy, Danny, was given the gift of sight.  Once blind from juvenile cataracts, now Danny is bouncing and bounding along like any other puppy, full of energy, excitement and curiosity.

Danny’s story started when he, along with 29 other pups, were rescued from a farm near Waco by the Austin Humane Society.  It was pretty quickly realized that Danny had juvenile cataracts causing blindness.  While moving around, to get his bearings, he kept his head down and walked slowly.

“He’ll run into the walls at our house and then stop and move the other way,” said Danny’s foster dad, Brett Franco.

When Danny’s story came out, it went viral and the donations started pouring in from all over, more than even needed for his care.  Now more  dogs and animals will be able to receive care due to the outpouring of love and generosity.

“We’ve had donations come from as far as Georgia, Colorado, Massachusetts, and California. People clearly heard this story and they want to help,” said Kelly Hanes with the Austin Humane Society. “We’ve gotten more that’s come in over the top of that, so that will leave a legacy for other animals.”

And last Thursday, cute little Danny got his miracle… he got his sight back.  Dr. Lynsey Wagner at Eye Care for Animals in North Austin performed free surgery to remove Danny’s cataracts and amazingly, within minutes the pup was up and about, happy, playful and energetic.

“It’s great every time, that’s why it’s my favorite. It’s the same feeling when you can just see them tracking you, even from the kennel. You just know they’re seeing you for the first time,” said Dr. Wagner.

Danny will have abut 6-8 weeks to recup them he’ll be ready to find his forever home like most of the rest f the rescued pooches already have.

What a touching, heartwarming, feel-good story… and what an adorable puppy… just does the heart good!  A special thanks to Dr. Lynsey Wagner at Eye Care for Animals and to the Austin Humane Society! 🙂
