5 Boys Accused of Setting Dog on Fire, Nashville, TN

Another sad case of ‘children’ setting a dog on fire, this time from Nashville, TN! Again I question what could possibly be going through these kids’ minds to perpetrate an atrocity like this on an innocent animal?? What is happeneing to the morals of our youth today??

Five boys face charges of animal cruelty after being accused of setting a dog on fire, authorities said.

The incident happened near an abandoned house in north Nashville on Sunday, WSMV-TV reported. The boys, who have not been identified because they are juveniles, ranged in age from 9 to 14.

“Some said the last time they saw the dog, it was still engulfed in flames,” said Animal Control Officer Lina Hernandez, who is investigating the case.

One of the boys was being held by his parents, and the others were in juvenile custody. (Tennessean.com)

Arthur Greer, a retired Army sergeant, said he witnessed the act from his parents’ home.

“We heard a dog screaming and hollering and I was like, ’Wow, someone’s hurting this dog.’ So I stopped and turned around and looked and I saw the dog running across the street full of flames. It made me so mad to see something like this,” he said.

Greer said he held the boys until police arrived. None of the boys were able to say why they allegedly set fire to the animal, which has not been found.

“This, to me, is some type of psychopathic-type behavior that these kids did with this animal,” Hernandez said. (Knox News)

Needless to say, I’ll be keep an eye out for updates on this. This comes on the heels of another story from Macon, GA where three boys set fires to dogs in two separate incidents in May.
