A pair of Muskogee, OK friends, Austin Michael Mullins, 26, and Krystal Lynn Lewis, 23, have been arrested and charged with one count each of felony animal cruelty but the heartless and brutal killing of a 7-week-old Jack Russell terrier puppy, Poplin.
The puppy belonged to Lewis, a gift from a female ex-lover. At a park near Muskogee, Mullins shot the little puppy 10 times with a .22 pistol then they took the puppy to Lewis’ apartment where they skinned and displayed the skin on a board. They told police they planned to make a belt out of the skin.
Lewis told police they killed the puppy because she couldn’t afford to care for it but authorities believe Poplin was killed because Lewis no longer got along with the ex-lover who gave her the puppy.
Mullins and Lewis were being held on $25k bail and a judge ordered a competency hearing fro them.
As far as I’m concerned there’s no doubt that there’s something wrong with these sick, twisted wastes of human life! To cruelly kill and innocent little puppy over a domestic situation… or even if the reason was because she couldn’t afford to care for it, is just unfathomable! And then to skin it and display the skin like a gruesome trophy and intend to make a belt with it… These two need to be put somewhere away from society for a long time. I just don’t even know what to say…

OMG, I am at such a loss for words. This was an innocent little baby. How in the world, despite the ill feelings that are present between an ex, how in God’s name could someone do something so horrid? With the bail amount being so high, I do certainly hope and pray that the judicial system takes a long hard look at these two sub human beings. I am sitting here in tears for the loss of this little jrt who suffered at the hands of these horrible people. RIP Poplin. You are in better hands now, God will hold you and comfort you.
how on god’s green earth can ppl so horrors like this. these ppl should b put away…..for a LONG time. this baby should have still been with mama. jeez, if u can’t afford 2 take care of it….I’M SURE THERE WERE OTHERS WHO WOULD HAVE~GLADLY!!

When you get two people together that are as sick and twisted as these 2 are , you are asking for trouble. If I was the x-lover I would be afraid for my life. If they could do that to a harmless puppy that had nothing to do with the current situation then just think of the things that they could do to a human. For a woman to watch such a thing and to be a part of it, shows a total lack of compassion on her part and she has no mothering instinct, I hope she has no children, if so they should be taken away from her. They both need to be put into prison not jail, full fledged prison and made to pay a big fine. Until we make it where people take this seriously they will not stop hurting innocence animals. We call them animals but lately, the humans seem more like animals. We need to unite and make international laws to protect all animals and for them to know what is going to happen when they break these laws. We all know that all dogs go to heaven, they are all God’s animals, he only lest us keep them, we will be judged on how we treat our pets.. I love my little J.Russell and would probably hurt anyone that hurt her. Watch for people report them I do all the time. Get their pictures on your cell phone and call the police there are laws, true some are just slaps on the hand, but they need to know people are watching and doing something about it.

I say skin them too. Only skin them alive. That poor little puppy never even had a chance for any life. 25,000.00 what a mere amount. That is way too low. We should have them skinned alive and hang their filthy skins in the town square for all to see and tell everyone that this is what happens when they harm and innocent animal of God. I am at a loss for words on this. I am so enraged. I wish they lived near me. I’d make them pay. If they get jail time I sure hope it is with an animal lover that will do something to them.
This is one of the most callous crimes I have ever read of and although I am against the death penalty, I must admit your idea was the first thought that crossed my mind when I read this
I hope that when they die, they are made to feel every bit of the pain and anguish they have caused to one of God’s innocent creatures

I love Jack Russell’s and in fact have lived with one for 12 years. She was the cutest puppy when we first got her. How anyone could do this heinous act is so beyond realty. I cannot emphasize how much these two should be punished to the fullest. Sick-Sick-Sick individuals. Send them to China, they would fit right in with all the dog killer and torturers there.
OMG What makes this really sickening is to look at that females face and try and comprehend how she could possibly be involved in something so horrific. No compassion at all! Devastatingly heartbreaking and I can’t stop sobbing at the thought. I am comforted by the knowledge that these two got caught by the police and now all of America can see their faces and know who they are. I shudder at the thought of how many animal abusers get away with their actions everyday.
