It is tremendous here in MI where we are trying to get bill out of the House Ag Committee to pass a law that will ban pound seizurein shelters by Class B dealers. Even dog breeders will go for your throat because they DON'T LIKE RULES THAT TELL THEM HOW MANY DOGS THEY CAN BREED! My suggestion? They all volunteer at their local shelters for a week so they can see the numbers of perfectly adoptable, lovable dogs, cats, etc. that meet their sad end because there are not enough homes for them. Until American really gets serious about the pet overpopulation problem and works to place the EXISTING animals and require strong neuter/spay laws, most legislation will simply be akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. I hope this legislation passes, but I just want people to be prepared for strong opposition.
