Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

A Plea for Help from the Dachshund Rescue of North America

Last weekend more than 1000 dogs were rescued from a puppy mill in West Virginia, many of them dachshunds. The Dachshund Rescue of North America is just one of the rescues involved in helping care for the rescued dogs and puppies.

I was asked to pass along this request for help. If you can help or know of someone who can, please contact DRNA or pass this information along.

This from Sheila at Dachshund Rescue of North America:

One of the biggest puppy mills in WV has been closed down.

There were almost 1000 dogs – approx. 700 of those are dachshunds. They all need foster homes. DRNA is not the only rescue helping of course, but we are one of the largest dachshund rescues, so we need to help as much as possible. This is what rescue is about – these dogs will probably have to be euthanized if foster homes are not found.

If you can commit to a dog for 1-3 months, please let me know as soon as possible. I am planning to pick up as many as we can this weekend – so I need firm numbers as soon as possible. If you have plans for the weekend and cannot take any until after the holiday – I can keep them all for the weekend.

Please help if you can – these dogs really need our help.

Thank you,
Sheila
