This adorable bulldog puppy pictured here is… or was, Sire, and at the tender age of only 5 months old he was brutally beaten to death for a puppy accident. Last week, his owner, Bobby Loggins, dealt approximately 30 blows to the head of this poor puppy after it urinated on the carpet.
Sure, Loggins was arrested but his charge for this vicious, cruel crime which took the life of an innocent and defenseless little puppy, was only “torture of an animal” which is a simple misdemeanor. If he pleads guilty, he will most likely just receive a fine and walk.
Help is desperately needed to get the word out! Unfortunately this only came to my attention yesterday and the hearing is today. Here’s an excerpt from the original email which was forwarded to me:
What we need to happen is as follows: The Sioux City PD needs to amend his charges to “Intentional Cruelty To an Animal” which would be a serious misdemeanor. This CAN happen if the charges are amended prior to his plea/court date. I believe this is this weds. I need everyone to start asking questions here. The ball was dropped initially by the charging officers, but this can be fixed if we put the pressure on.
I ask that you all give a call to the Sioux City Police Chief : Doug Young 712-279-6440 and the City Legal Dept at 712-279-6318 WE NEED TO ASK WHY THE CURRENT CHARGES STAND AND WHY WE ARE NOT AMENDING THEM? THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR, AS THE APPROPRIATE CHARGE WOULD BE A VIOLATION OF A STATE STATUTE. THEY ARE TRYING TO SWEEP THIS UNDER THE RUG.
Here’s some additional information which implies that there is more time to get the word out and put the pressure on:
The police dept transferred (caller) to the County Attorney’s office where she got a very nice lady who said that they were getting numerous calls. Said it’s best to write a letter stating our concerns and wishes, and the charge can still be amended. There is time, I think she implied that there could still be 45 days, but I think the faster we all write, the better.
The address she gave me is
Woodbury County Attorney
620 Douglas Street
room 300
Sioux City, Iowa 51101
Please, please, please…. post and crosspost. Let’s get the word out and the letters and calls in! Don’t let this heartless bastard walk with just a little fine after brutally beating this defenesless little puppy!!

Andrea Rosebrock

I will.
Thanks Andrea!
As you know, this made me sick to my stomach. I have started a letter, but have to go over it again, when I am not so mad, and soften my language quite a bit.
Poor Sire, RIP. You did not deserve to be beaten. All babies have accidents. Bless you little one.
I know Susie and thanks so much for getting the info to me. Hopefully we can get this out far and wide and make a difference. There is no way this should be a misdemeanor! Makes me sick to see so little value put on an innocent life and what’s next for this POS, beating a child?
D.
people like tis make me sick and I can’t place the words on here that needs to done to the guy that did this becuase I’m to much of lady but I can tell you one thing I’d love to do what I’m thinking to him myself… Ahhhhhhhhh yes nothing like beating a man first thing in morning that has done wrong that can make my day a good one…. scum bag you bet I’ll write.. thank you… people like this need to hung in the town square wish they would bring back a good old hanging and picnic in the squares.. maybe it would bring some people into the real world
I can not believe that there is a monster like that in this world, I own a bulldog myself and feel sickend by this, as far as Im concerned it should be a life time sentence, I will start my letter today, what is this world coming too?!
*&^%$)(*%$# OI I’M SO MAD RIGHT NOW. BUT AS SOON AS I CALM DOWN I WILL WRITE A LETTER.
LETS DO IT – We are this little puppy’s only voice! How sad – too sad and infuriating for words. Sioux City needs to kno there are those of us out there who DO CARE, eventho there is no civilized punishment that can make this monster pay for his unforgivable crime/act. The terror, betrayal and pain he must have suffered at the hands of this depraved monster!
awww. look at that precious wee boy. jeez, it’s just so easy 2 wipe up pee. takes a minute or 2. but no…this bastard had 2 beat this baby 2 death. when r the “higher ups” gonna see this animal cruelty HAS TO BE STOPPED…NOW?
Sire…i’m so sorry that this horror was done 2 u. rest, sweet baby
If it helps, the email address for Sioux City Police Chief Doug Young is dyoung@sioux-city.org.
Thanks for adding that Judith! The more we can get out there, the better!
D.
Ohhh yess, the email address helps A LOT, Judith. Thanx. But lets still send snail mail. At least our emails will get there QUICKLY, and make a statement.
I just sent my email, which had to be edited quite a few times to send to the Police Chief. I did mention that by changes the charges, it would show the city of Souix City that it will not tolerate animal abuse, but also added that by doing so, it will leave a huge impact on animal rescue and animal advocates across the nation.
I also said that this was murder, and this monster should get more than just a slap on the wrist. I did include my home address in the email – I have always done that, just to justify who I am.
Keep those letters and emails going. We have to do this in the memory of little Sire.
Additionally, the name of the Sioux City attorney is Andrew Mai and protests can be faxed to him at 712-224-5203. Protests can also be faxed to Woodbury County Attorney Patrick Jennings at 712-279-6457. For those with access to a fax machine, faxing is certainly more efficient than snail mail in cases like these involving a time factor.
Responding to my earlier email, Sioux City Police Chief Doug Young wrote:
The info you had was incorrect. I e-mailed the original sender
correcting the information. Unfortunately anyone on the web has the
ability to send insightful and erroneous information and assume it to be
accurate.
Bobby Loggins is being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law
which is “Animal Torture” an aggravate misdemeanor in Iowa, punishable
by 2 years in prison. I would be more than happy to talk with you by
phone and discuss the details of the incident. I see that you are an
editor, I hope you don’t rely on the web for accurate information. You
are correct in stating this is a serious matter. The Sioux City Police
Department is treating it that way. We also are animal owners and
lovers.
OK, got a couple things here. First, I did receive an email back from Young also: “Your info is inaccurate. I have spent hours responding to e-mails such as this. E-mails that originate from someone that has no knowledge of the investigation nor Iowa code. I would be more than happy to set the record straight a talk by phone. Your job would be to make sure that the accurate information is sent to all your contacts and help clear up this dispensing of inaccurate information. Thanks” Personally I think that he gives a rats ass, and has a set email for response, maybe adding one thing or another.
Secondly, been in touch with the rescuer I got the original email from, and she sent me this link:
http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/articles/2009/06/16/news/local/3876408a20872ed7862575d700132545.txt
This is an article in the Sioux City paper. In the comments I noticed an email address for a Patrick Jennings, who is the Woodbury County attorney. I sent him an email, praising him and thanking him for his efforts to pursue Loggins to the fullest extent, in addition asking him if he would be a voice for those who cannot speak in our rescue world. He did respond back to me right away with nothing but a “thank you”.
Back to basics – write, write, write. Thanks all.
Oh believe me – I am snail-mailing, e-mailing and fwd-ing this link to everyone I know. This is absurd!!!! Incorrect info my a$$. You pummel a puppy in the head 30 dang times – that’s intent to do bodily harm. And for peeing on a rug? Wow – do we beat our kids when they have accidents???? No – we’d spend the rest of our life in jail and so should this scum. They are called accidents for a reason – puppy didn’t purposely pee on the rug.
RIP Sire – you are in a much better place right now but sadly, the world has lost another fight. We will not give up on you baby
Thanks pistons58. This story hit me hard when I got it late last night and forwarded it on to D. When I calm down, I will respond back to the police chief, and tell him my information was not inaccurate. If you read the article in the paper, I recall he said something to this crime being “heinous”. So my info is inaccurate?
Let’s nail this sob. lousy bastart loggins.
What kind of stupid ass would do this .What puppy doesn’t piddle once in a while .Again , a good beating for this idiot is deserved , I wish he was close by
Susie,
Rest assred I have sent EVERYthing I could and I just hope together we can get this POS in jail where he belongs.
Sadly, my anger has increased since I first wrote it and I am finding it difficult to say anything that I can keep clean.
At first read, I wasoverwhelmed for the Sire…..then I hd tim to think of this #$@# and what he did.
I hve forwarded this to all my email buddies and co-workers and they promised to do the same.
I hope we can help Sire not to have died in vain.
Hi everyone,
I have just emailed, faxed and wrote a letter, I am sure they will take no notice of my efforts but atleast we can all try R.I.P Sire all are hearts are with you.
Wow! This guy has to have a FEW screws loose to beat a tiny pup like this. I can’t even begin to imagine. To begin with, I don’t ever hit, yell, or rub their nose in it or say bad dog in a low accusing tone. I simply say…”whoops, looks like you made a little mistake….let’s go outside”. I also try and clean it up while she’s not looking, because she has such a sad look on her face….no, not a ‘guilty’ look, more a look like “I’m sorry”. And this jerk beat this puppy to death??!! Rubbing their nose in it, is extremely degrading and not at all necessary. Can you imagine if we rubbed human baby’s nose’s in their pee and poop every time they made a mistake. That’s disgusting! This POS decides the best way to teach this sweet little angel is to beat it to death! MY God! Poor Squire. Never had a chance….never! They need to use this MONSTER as an example, as to what happens if you MURDER an animal. Throw the book at him. And, if they can’t find it in their minds and hearts to prosecute to the fullest, turn him loose to the public and let them do as THEY see fit. Believe me, I will join in on that one!
this man must be charge of what he did to this poor puppy …
justice justice justice
i cant imagne that man is waking free
he is a killer ….. and he can do it again and again and again
he must to be in jull ……
he must to pay for what he did
this people makes me sick they are not human sham on him
pups have accidents like babies since when does that justify beating it to death. the answer is plain and simple. to get a slap on the wrist for it is a joke another justice system f*** up. isn’t it wonderful and to think they say we should abide by it is another joke so these scum can do what they want and sit back and laugh about it is showing how much of a joke it is….
i agree with katrinab bring back a hanging in the town. at least it will bring us together i’d even pay to watch it just to see justice for this poor little pup. bloody PSYCHO hope you meet a animal lover in jail as no doubt you will end up there sooner or later your kind always do
