Dog Saves Woman from House Fire
Wednesday evening, an Eagan, Minnesota woman, Cathy Mining, was exercising in her basement on her treadmill wearing headphone when her Labrador puppy started jumping on and off the couch and acting strange. Her 4 month old puppy Riley, that she’s only had since Thanksgiving, would not stop barking.
When she took off her headphones, she then heard the fire alarms and went upstairs to find her living room already engulfed in flames.
Mining grabbed her puppy and ran outside to a neighbor’s house. Luckily her two sons were not at home at the time.
The 44 yr old house on Highview Avenue that Mining had only recently moved into, burned for over two hours and is most likely a total loss. Fire Chief Mike Scott says the fire appears to have begun near the Christmas tree.
“That was a real smart dog,” Scott said. “Without the dog, she would have never made it out.”
