Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Dead and Emaciated Dogs, Drugs and Guns – DMX Cuts a Deal

Earl Simmons aka DMXIn May Earl Simmons aka DMX, was arrested and charged with seven misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and four felony counts of drug possession after three dead dogs, many emaciated dogs, drugs and guns were found at his Arizona home.  Earlier that same week he was booked on charges of racing on a highway, reckless driving, two counts of endangerment and three counts of criminal speed and driving on a suspended license.

Well looks like Simmons is going to be getting quite a break some some reason and cut quite the deal. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, one felony count of theft, and one count each of felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug. When he is sentenced on January 30 he is expected to receive a 90 day minimum jail sentence and all the other charges will be dismissed.

Oh, he also can’t own any animals or firearms and will be required to attend an animal-offender treatment program.

This guy has a background of criminal behavior: In 1999 he pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found pipes for smoking crack cocaine, a pistol and 13 pit bulls at his home in Teaneck, N.J. There’s also been weapons charges, parole violations and fraud charges.

Can someone explain to me how he can do this, over and over again, and cut a sweet deal where he will be back on the streets pretty quick.  He’s shown he has little regard for the law, isn’t it time to teach him a serious lesson?

This just disgusts me!  It’s beyond pathetic and so is this waste of human life and you wonder why our youth of today does some of the things they do, look at the icons they follow.  They see sports figures, celebrities, etc. doing the crime and as for doing the time, what a joke!  Yeah, we’re teaching our children really good lessons. :(

  • This guy is out of control, and law enforcement is acting like a band aid on a cancer patient. He’s surely a waste of precious oxygen on our planet. This is the kind of criminal who doesn’t think much of the legal system ( prob. justified ) and all the so-called sanctions from it because he’ll do anything he wants to do anyway. The next time he is arrested, he will be released because he is a celebrity. The farce goes on and the legal system just has to bowed to this scumbag.

Will you look at the pic of this PRIC-! I KNOW I don’t buy his records. His just a POS who keeps getting what he wants and knows it.

Why should he care if he abuses animals? He’s the REAL animal here.

  • Susie

Ted, I totally agree with you! But honestly, I don’t even know who he is, so he cannot be that much of a celebrity!

With all the internet/computer use with police departments, couldn’t they see that this guy is a habitual offender, and see what his previous sentences were? This type of behavior from the judicial system makes me so sick.

Yes, he should not breathe the same air as you or I.

  • Well, I didn’t know him either but I looked him up. He makes music(?) for certain listeners, and even acts in movies. He’s not a celebrity in the same sense as Pacino or Josh Grogan. He’s a famous criminal really, and perhaps celebrity is a misnomer. Who would celebrate human garbage like this? BTW, animals don’t behave this way. This guy lived in Teaneck, NJ? That’s next town to mine. If ever I find myself in the legal system, I’d say that I am a famous blogger, a celebrity, and the judge would say, ” Really? I’ll let you off this time if you promise not to rape, sodomize, decapitate, speed, and spit on our police officers as you did. You’re famous and our society values people like you. “

LOCK THIS POS UP. NEVER HEARD OF HIM & I WOULD NEVER LET ANY OF MY KIDS LISTEN TO A POS LIKE HIM.

  • Susie

Ted, I can just imagine what type of music (?) he plays….with that said, he is still a piece of trash in my book. Our judicial system better take a hard look at people and their pasts before handing out sentences which are no more than a slap on the hand. I really believe that these pieces of garbage will not make it thru the Gates of Heaven. I hope I never run into anyone who abuses animals and or people in my life, because I would be the one locked up, unfortunately.

  • Kathy

The guy is scum and should be locked up but yet – our “wonderful” courts keep letting scum like him back out on the street!!! What part of ‘habitual’ are they missing.
If I ever came across this guy – like Susie, sadly it will be ME in prison because I’d kill him. Oh but maybe I can get 90 days for murder????? Slap Slap

  • Lucky

explanation – MONEY. seems these #$@&*^@ get away with everything

  • Katrina

Another scum bag bought his way out what is a matter with our justice system…. I say no deals to no one no matter who you are….

As you can clearly see this guy is high and not on pot. He will be in the prison run by Joe Arpio, toughest cop in the US so hopefully, he’ll get his. Joe runs a kennel out of his prison so I don’t think these guys will like this jerk too much. Arpio is under investigation for numerous things but he makes prisoners wear jail house stripes and pink underwear, put them up in tents outside and doesn’t feed them anything good and they must pay for their food. He is a mean man that believes in tough laws. Whatever can be said about Arpio, I hope he does it all to DMX. This guy should have never had an animal after the first time. Don’t think AZ is as tough on animal cruelty as other states and it should be as I have seen starving animals many times down there.

  • greenriverkate

He lives in Surprise AZ which is a small community outside of Phoenix and he was busted there before for animal cruelty so it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone in AZ as he got big press the first time. I think that is why he thinks he can do as he pleases as it is a small community. However, it is on a road to a great fishing lake and there are always people around. I think the name is Surprise. My sister lives in Phoenix so she keeps me posted on this less than an animal. (he can’t be the animal as they don’t do this sort of thing to another)

  • Susie

Hey hey Greenriverkate! I have seen Arpio on news programs, and love the way he treats his prisoners. I think we need more Prison Wardens/Sheriffs like him. If he runs a kennel out of his prison, I agree, he won’t like this pos, and might look at him in a different light than other prisoners.

Let’s keep our fingers and paws crossed that Arpio does not like this pos.

  • JANET MITCHELL

I THINK ALL PRISONS SHOULD BE RUN LIKE ARPIO’S PRISON THESE PRISONS TODAY GIVE THE PRISONERS TOO MUCH LEAWAY SHOOT SOME OF THEM LIVE BETTER THAN ME. FREE TV, 3 MEALS A DAY, THAT’S JUST BS. GET RID OF THE TV’S,RADIO’S, & MAKE EM EAT BOLOGNA SANDWITCHES 3 TIMES A DAY, I GARANTEEE THEY WON’T WANT TO LOOK AT ANOTHER BOLOGNA SANDWITCH EVER AGAIN WHEN THEY GET OUT. ALSO MAKE EM WEAR THE OLD PRISON STRIPES & PINK UNDERWEAR TOO. MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF EVERY PRISIONER.

  • Admin

That sums it up quite nicely Ted, scary but true.
