Demand Justice for Dog Tortured and Killed by Owner – PETITION

UPDATE 10/28/09 – No Justice for Bowser? Dog Brutally Tortured and Killed by Owner!

UPDATE 8/25/09 – Update on the Robert Suttles, Man Who Brutally Tortured and Killed His Own Dog

UPDATE 8/20/09 – Finally Some Media Coverage and IMPORTANT-Charges Can be Upgraded, Must Contact County Attorney ASAP!!

SuttlesMr. Robert Suttles, Somerset, KY, has demonstrated a total disregard for the life and health of his devoted canine companion “Bowser.” 911 (Sheriff’s Department) has been called in the past to the home of Mr. Suttles where neighbors had observed that he refused to give his dog the basics for sustenance: food and water. Emergency personnel would not seize the dog “since no ribs were showing.” On other occasions they refused to respond to the 911 calls.

In retaliation for the neighbors’ calls, on June 30, 2009, Mr. Suttles demonstrated his “dominance” over this animal. Boasting of his ability to treat his own dog as he liked, he proceeded to pour antifreeze onto bread and to stuff this deadly concoction in Bowser’s mouth, holding the mouth closed so that Bowser could not spit it out and had to swallow it. Mr. Suttles performed this act of cruelty in front of neighbors and other witnesses. Death from antifreeze poisoning is one of the cruelest deaths.

Bowser was unable to regain standing position after this poisoning as he was in severe pain from the deadly food. Mr. Suttles left Bowser outside in pain for two full days (no food, water, meds, comfort) until he went outside to Bowser, kicked him viciously in the head until Bowser finally died. At this point, on July 2, 2009, he dragged the lifeless body across his yard to a burn barrel and proceeded to burn Bowser’s body that night, leaving no opportunity for necropsy. But there were witnesses to his vile and heinous acts. Witnesses who are willing to testify to his heinous acts.

On July 20, 2009, charges against Mr. Suttles were finally filed. He has been charged with second degree animal cruelty and harassment and a $7,500 bail has been set. Mr. Suttles tried to plead to lesser charges but Judge Woods set trial for Monday, August 28, 2009, at a time to be determined later, in order for the DA to interview witnesses and gather facts.

On the night of the burning of the body, the Sheriff was called to Mr. Suttles, but made himself unavailable to help.

This is not the first time that Mr. Suttles has been involved in documented cruelty to animals. He has bragged about killing another dog in March 2009. And he has been seen throwing food (laced with antifreeze?) over another neighbor’s fence to her goats.

Somerset KY has experienced many unexplained deaths of domestic animals by antifreeze poisoning and other means. It has been suggested that Mr. Suttles may be behind those acts as well, but we do not have evidence to support that at this time.

Somerset KY is a nice community with good neighbors who love and care for their domestic animals. If “Bowser,” a beautiful black lab mix, had become a burden to Mr. Suttles, he could have surrendered Bowser to the Humane Society for rehoming. Instead, he willingly and viciously killed his own dog in a most horrendous way, with witnesses around who were unable to stop him or get the law to arrest him at the time of the assault.

It is time to get justice for Bowser! Please read below and then sign the petition. The petition will be sent to the Judge and DA on the Friday before the trial.

ACTION REQUESTED

Urge the District Attorney for Pulaski County, KY (Somerset) to prosecute Defendant Mr. Robert Suttles, Somerset, KY, for the maximum charges allowable by law as a result of his egregious acts of animal cruelty and harassment against his dog Bowzer.

Urge Judge Woods (or the sitting judge for the trial) to find Mr. Robert Suttles “Guilty” (Note from Deanna: I believe this may be a jury trial from information I found researching this) on all counts of animal cruelty charged against him and to sentence him to the fullest amount of time for such charges. Urge Judge Woods to require that he complete at least 75% of his sentence in jail, that the remainder of the sentence be community service to a NON-animal related agency (you can’t trust him around animals), and bar him from forever owning a domestic animal again (dog, cat, etc.) Any other animals in the home shall be surrendered to the Pulaski County Humane Society for the purpose of rehoming in a loving home. Finally, Mr. Suttles should be required to reimburse the Pulaski County Humane Society $xxx.xx for the care given to Bowser before his death. If any expenses have already been donated by the public, Mr. Suttles should still be fined at least $1,500, with the monies going to the Humane Society for the purpose of helping document and obtain veterinary and humane care, for future cases of cruelty.

In light of recent notorious cases such as the Michael Vick dogfighting case, we in Pulaski County need to send a clear message to our residents and other residents of Kentucky that such acts of cruelty will not be tolerated and will be fully pursued and prosecuted.

We appreciate your time in reading this petition and again we urge you to send a clear message of justice on behalf of the late Bowser.

Thank you.

Please write, call, fax, or email the public officials in Pulaski County and give them your opinion on this case. As always, we ask that you be polite and stick to the facts. Hysteria and cursing (or worse!) will only harm our cause. You don’t need to write a long letter. Just let the DA and Judge know that the citizens of Pulaski County will no longer tolerate a “slap on the wrist” to perpetrators of animal cruelty. See below.

The information above came directly from the petition which you can sign HERE. Oddly enough I could find no media coverage of this horrendous crime but as the petition is sponsored in part by the humane society and the trial is on the docket, I will accept the facts as laid out.

This dog was routinely starved, then poisoned and kicked to death then had his tortured body burned to try to hide the crime!  There is no excuse for the suffering inflicted on this innocent creature!! We must demand justice!!!

What this waste of human life did was to cruelly torture this poor dog in a vicious power play, taunt and harass his neighbors and witnesses and someone almost get away with this crime!! He needs to be punished severely and there needs to be justice for Bowser, tortured and killed for no reason except for some POS to play his power game.

Please, I ask that you not only sign the petition but to call and write!! This is one dangerous psychopath and if he’s on the streets, his neighbors fear retribution as do the witnesses who are scared but willing to set that fear aside and testify to try to get justice for “just a dog” against a bully!!

Help to get the word out and share this with anyone who has a heart and cares!!  Only through our action can we make a difference!!

Again, here’s the PETITION!

UPDATE 8/20/09 – IMPORTANT!!!
Finally some media coverage of this horrific crime!

Get the Flash Player to see this content.

Now for the important part; the charges for this crime can be upgraded to a Class D Felony under Romeo’s Law!! For some reason the County Attorney wants to leave it a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor… No Way!! I don’t think so!! There is no way you can know the details of this and not see it as the torture that it is.

Please, please, please… keep in mind that time is short…

Contact County Attorney (Bill Thompson) or the Assistant County Attorney (Dan Thompson – Bill’s brother) to refer this case to the Commonwealth Attorney (Eddie Montgomery) for prosecution as a Class D felony under Romeo’s Law.

  • All I can do is shake my head in wonder at the monsters that poison our planet by breathing our air. Suttles WILL pay for his heinous crime but possibly not at the hands of the local justice system. It sounds to me that those responsible for ensuring justice in the area are not all that competent. Kudos to the witnesses and neighbors though for standing up for themselves and for Bowser.

Again, if true justice were served, Suttles would eat an anti-freeze sandwich and then while he suffered in agony, animal advocates could line up to kick his head in until he died. And only after he vacated our earth will he find real justice.

I will write and I will sign the petition but I am truly not optimistic that this creep will get what he deserves from the court of law.

    • AIR

I'd gladly volunteer to drive there, pay for the gas, and buy the antifreeze to pour down HIS throat.

In addition to writing my letters.

      • dru

air, i was just looking 2 see how far somerset, ky. is from me….not really 2 far. we could drive together/share gas n antifreeze costs. i'll even throw in the bread….i've signed the petition n sent it 2 my friends. i do hope the judge makes an example of this POS n puts him away for a long time.

Bowser, i'm so very sorry for what this cruel bastard did 2 u but u're not in a better place n u'll never see him again…………….

      • terry

I would come with you and knock his teeth out , are you telling me not one neighbour stood up to this idiot ,He would last 1 minute around here

      • jessica paitsel

i couldn't do it. id be in jail for droping him to his knees. This makes me sick. how can we as people make it to a better places in life. if we let this happen. we were put here, to take care of animals. And dogs are the best gift to man. Its so sad………….

  • Trapes

This 'thing' deserves to be treated the same way he treated his dog. true justice won't be served unfortunately but I hope he goes to prison and gets beat up in there and gang raped!

  • Leslie

I had my whole family and then some sign the petition. How cruel can you be. He left the dog in the yard to die, thats when I would have gone and stolen the dog. I'd accept the punishment in order to have saved that dog from a painful life and death!!!!

  • Scarlet K. Long, R.N

I have sent THIS case to everyone I possibly can.

    I am just sick…

I want ROBERT SUTTLES to suffer in every way possible. He is a psychopath, sociopath and SADIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, I am just as SICK over "no good for nothing," lazy-assed and ignorant

    sheriffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO YOUR JOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cares for Pets

This must be a nationwide problem. I live in Texas and when I have called for help because of a neglected animal everyone is too busy or unable to come check on the situation. Law enforcement and animal control do not care and have their hands tied when asked to resuce an abused or neglected animal. They always say the same thing as in Kentucky…no ribs are showing or the animal is not bleeding or the animal is still barking or they tell me that in a hurricane weather watch that a tree is considered shelter or if I see a dog in a parked car in the 105 degree hot weather (130+ in the car) that the windows are cracked and the dog is still standing and barking so he must be ok. Thanks for all your help, officials.

  • Kat

He also has pending flagrant nonsupport charges. So not only does he allegedly torture and murder his pets he doesn't bother to support his children. What a fine specimen of a "man" he is.

    • Admin

Kat, that's about the only other info I could find on this guy aside from the animal cruelty case on the court docket. Still amazed that I wasn't able to find any media coverage of this heinous crime!
      D.

    • Scarlet K. Long, R.N

Obviously, he NEEDS to be CASTRATED; I'll do it!!!

(Then, I'll pour antifreeze on his missing part and make him eat it. And, etc., etc.–behaviour inspired by ROBERT SUTTLES!)

    • Peggy Juliann

Amazing that there is nothing else to be found in the news on this. I have e-mailed and called the Humane Society to see if we can get more info but have not been able to make contact. As they are all volunteer, I am sure that there is no full time person there. Will keep trying. Does sound as if the Judge and the DA are willing to go the distance on this one, so the letters and faxes would be a great help to keep the pressure on. This guy needs to be off the streets and maybe the boys in the jail yard can kick him in the head. This has been passed on to all my contacts, two of whom are ardent black lab adorers and one works with lab rescue.

    • excalibur2009

Kat, please don't refer to this POS as a man, its the farsest thing from a real mad that I can see, Thanks.

    • excalibur2009

Well this SOB has give the children something proud to hold their heads up for : (

  • MM

I don't believe repaying evil for evil is the answer but society does need to take crimes against animals more seriously than they are. I wish we knew how to wake them up.

I signed it although I wish it wasn't the only site of its kind out there. I hate the liberal bent and the fact that it pretends to care about human rights but doesn't want to include innocent children in that fight.

  • Lisbeth Mønst

I sincerly Hope this bl—%&¤#=? culprit gets what he deserves to do this to his own dog what a sod. The universe has laws he is bound to pay for this for the rest of his hopefully miserabel life. Poor dog he suffered so much there is no justice in taking a precious life and turning every living hour into suffering. Rest in Peace Bowser you are free and we will not forget you or your case. Let no animal of any kind suffer as he has. Let us fight cruelty mistreatment of dogs when ever and where ever we encounter it. Lisbeth Mønsted Larsen Greyhound Action Denmark. • vida

As someone who has the joy of sharing her home with a big black lab mix this story really hit me hard. I am going to sign petition now, will write letters when I calm down a bit. And why did no one help this dog? If I saw this happening I'd step in, not that I'm brave but really, how could people who knew this was being done just stand aside? I'm just sick over this, I'm sure the neighborhood is a good one with kind people but sometimes more than distant kindness is needed. In only one instance was I in a neighborhood with someone who treated their dog this badly. That I know of.The dog mysteriously disappeared…it's something to consider. Underground railroad for at risk dogs?

    • Underground railroads for at risk dogs actually exist. Unfortunately not for Bowzer. I agree with you, Vida, the neighbors involved here could possibly have done more to help save Bowzer the horror he lived through prior to his death.

Had this been my neighborhood, I would have been all over this monster like a dirty shirt, I would have had the cops, animal control AND animal rescue groups all over him like a dirty shirt and failing that, I would have released the dog into my own custody and woe be to him who might try to get him back.

Why this didn't happen for Bowzer is something we'll probably never know.

      • excalibur2009

Perhaps the neighbors were dealing with the same situation with the authorities as the story of the 2 St Bernards, if you get my drift. Sorry state of affairs.

  • Leslie

I still don't get why a neighbor didn't just take the dog one night if the guy left it out there for 2days. The neighbors are just as much to blame for having stuff like that happen in there neighborhood.

        MORE URGENT INFO:

For contact inforamtion as to exactly what it is that you are asking the County Attorney to do here is the request from the Pulaski County Humane Society.

" We would like to see the case prosecuted under Romeo's Law (KRS 525.135). However, at this time, the County Attorney wants to leave it at a 2nd degree misdemeanor. The complainant (from Peggy: that is the Humane Society) is meeting with the attorney next Tuesday afternoon, and is hoping to get it changed."

NOTE: Correct spelling is Romeo's Law

  • Mazie's Momma

I don't understand why the "neighbors" were unable to do anything. Even if they were all women, 2, 3 or 4 of them could have went over there and beat the holy hell out of the guy. I would have at least TRIED. And then, after it got dark and the idiot went inside…has nobody there heard of "stealing" the dog? I'm glad those "neighbors" don't live by me. That poor dog, and everyone "watched". I hate people.

  • MOEGO

I signed the petition and also state and example. I had a cat years ago and a neighbor poisoned her with anti-freeze, only I didn't know what it was and she was just limp. I rushed her to the vets and they didn't know what it was and couldn't treat it. She used to go out and go two doors down and visit with the neighbors cat. They both went back and forth as I had a doggie door and so did she. After my cat passed away, then shortly after so did hers. Now this little ole lady was in her 80's and her cat was her only companion. It almost killed her when her cat dyed as her husband had already passed away some years before. She made herself so sick over her cat that her family had to move her to a home. Now here was a lady that was spry and energetic and just plain wasted away over her cat. Months later I found out from another neighbor that this man has been doing this to neighborhood pets that get out of their yards. Believe me, I spread the word around the neighborhood, even went to his house and told his wife (who was on oxygen) and even called him a murderer to his face. I made my plea in the petition too. I sure hope this helps. This man should have anti-freeze shoved down his throat and left to die this horrible death. Maybe when his neighbors see him dye like that will they wake up a realize just what they have done. Poor Bowser, at least we know he is with God. RIP Bowser, God will make everything good for you.

    • excalibur2009

Well that wouldn't happen, because his neighbors would call an ambulance for this POS. Because he is(excuse the expression)a human being (Barf -NOT)Personally I would sit on my porch with a good cup of coffee and enjoy the show : )

      • Peggy Juliann

        Hi Excal…

From the sound of things and several other reports, the one good thing would be that I am pretty sure that the neighbors would sit on the porch drinking coffee with you. :) The cops, who wouldn't do anything to save Bowser, might call though.

        • excalibur2009

Yeh you got that right because this MF SOB****en POS needs police protection because it is a Barf human Barf. It would never do for me to be a cop. I would have to *********************

  • Okay I'm perfectly willing to fax my letters from work tomorrow however I'd like to know about more about the Romeo's law and how it applies. Since I'm not an US resident I'm a bit ignorant of the specifics so if somebody can provide me more information to use in my letter, that would be great!

I will also provide a sample letter to my readers as well and get as many as I can to send the letters out tomorrow.

Thanks Peggy Juliann for digging and getting this information out to us.

    • Peggy Juliann

      Thanks Cher,

Below is a link that will take you to the Animal Law Coalition, a group I think more powerful and active than ALDF, though I support and belong to both. Nice thing about ALC is that they have a great website and keep it meticulously updated, much as D does here.

And I know the sample letter would be great. Many people want to write, just need a bit of an idea of how to start. Great idea, maybe you might post here also. This law is so important, relatively new in KY, which I think may account for the DA's hesitancy, and it could also have a great impact on being the start of getting other states to enact said laws. Just think where things would be if Vick's state had such laws. Thank you so much for writing as well as everyone else who is signing the petition and writing. Here is the link to the ALC page on Romeo's Law:

      http://www.animallawcoalition.com/animal-cruelty/…

PS: The Pulaski County Humane Society also said that the newspapaers will carry a story on this over the weekend. The most likely is the Commonwealth Journal, you can get that online: Here is that

  • Emilie

Thank you to everyone who is signing this petition, making the on-point comments, and all the faxes and letters! When Cindy wrote me about this abuse, I couldn't sit still. I started the petition and I am so proud of everyone who has responded! We are definitely getting exposure now! Sometimes you have to do things a little backwards (petition first, then TV news gets interested, instead of Vice versa) but it worked! Thanks also to Deanna and her huge following! She is helping so much in getting attention on this case! Thanks for believing in us, Deanna, and publishing this for us! Sadly, it often takes coverage like this for the justice system to work. We will post updates as we get them! And I truly believe we will have a huge following at the trial, and maybe some bread and antifreeze too! Thanks all for your support on this petition!

    • Admin

Emilie, I am just one link in the chain that wants to see this guy hanged… I mean, see justice for this innocent victim of the POS's heartless cruelty!!

Getting the word out as wide as possible is sometimes the first step in getting justice, now if we can just get enough people to call, email and fax to encourage the County Attorney to upgrade the charges to the felony charges they should be!!

Thank you for getting the ball rolling on this!! This is one man that seriously needs to be brought to justice and punished severely! He is a danger to society, to his neighbors and most likely to anyone that comes in contact with him.

One innocent life has already been cruelly taken, let his crimes end with that! RIP Bowser!

      D.

  • Peggy Juliann

Great Work All: as of 4:30 AM EST 8/21/09 the petition signatures are at 668. Let's see if we can get it to 2,000 before the Tuesday 8/25/09 meeting with the County DA (remember aim high – achieve more). We want this depraved abuser charged with a FELONY. What a great start to having all who abuse face these charges.

And if you can possibly do so, please call, fax or express mail to the County Attorney, (name and contact info above) so that he has letters for support of moving this to a felony charge by close of business on Monday. Many thanks.

  • Admin

I want to thank everyone for your comments and signatures and now I implore you, please call, email, fax the County Attorney!!! Impress upon him the heinousness and viciousness of this crime and the depravity of Robert Suttles in committing it!! Animal cruelty must be punished severely!

Share this story with your friends, family, any contact or groups that can help spread the word. Time is short!! Monday is the meeting with the country attorney and Friday is the trial! Do not let Bowser have died in vain!! He deserves justice!!

    D.

  • Sam

I signed the petition yesterday as soon as I read this. Could not put my thoughts down at the time, crying too hard.It tore me apart…. This is the worse case I think I have read so far. He deliberatly tortured this poor baby to death to prove to his neighbours his superiority over poor bowser, and the neighbours it seems.

As for the neighbours, I am glad they will provide evidence. But I agree totally with the rest of you. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY TAKE HIM AT NIGHT !!!!! How could anyone witness him feeding bowser antifreeze and then leave him there to die in agony ???? It is beyond belief. I know that they went down the right channels with the authoraties, but we know from experience, that this so often provides no help at all. I am not a very brave person. I will personally put up with a lot for a quiet life, but where it comes down to the vunerable, animals and humans alike, I will be in there all guns blazing. And god help the asshole who tries to stand in my way….

I don't know if I have not noticed on all the comments, but I haven't seen any E Mail address for the County Attorney???

As I live in the UK I would need to E Mail for it to get there by Monday. It is now Friday night, so having finished work I have no access to a fax. Can anyone help with this ??

    • Peggy Juliann

Sam (and anyone else out of US or in this predicament)

A search for DA e-mail has not been successful so far, I have put in a query to two of my Kentucky contacts, they are out at this time. I will give it an hour or so (til 5:00 PM) US EST to see if they received my message and are able to locate DA e-mail and get back to me. IF NOT I have one other solution that should accomodate your no fax and no way to get to DA by Monday need. So please check back a little after that time to get the needed information. I will post one way or another. Thanks

    • Scott Enk

As for what I think should be done to Suttles if he is indeed found guilty, let me say that all I’d want to have would be a loaf of bread or two, plenty of antifreeze, steel-toed boots (which I have!), a baseball bat, leather straps to keep his mouth closed, a nice, big crowd, a YouTube camera, and, of course, immunity from any criminal or civil liability.

“People” that abuse pets, especially in the way Suttles is accused of torturing and killing Bowser, forfeit their membership in the human race as well as any rights. We must have laws by which we, as a society, can definitively assure that such walking, talking scum will never abuse any animal–or person–again.

Remember Bowser. Robert Suttles, if you indeed did what you are accused of doing to that innocent dog, see you–in prison (where you should make a nice “bride” for someone), and then in hell.

    • Scott Enk

      Sam and All–

Yes. Why didn't any of the neighbors who witnessed what allegedly happened intervene?

Assuming Robert Suttles indeed did do what he is accused of doing to Bowser, he should be on his knees thanking fate, God, or whatever he worships that *I* do not live in his neighborhood. Far from fearing anyone whom I would see abusing an animal, I would not hesitate to take direct action if needed to stop the abuse.

I’d show that “person” what the “dominance” Suttles allegedly cited really is.

If that means entering the abuser’s property and using whatever physical force might be necessary to end the abuse and get help for the animal (but no more force than necessary, of course), so be it. That is not only my legal right, but my sovereign duty–one that is inherently superior to and takes precedence over any law or policy that might be to the contrary. It is also your right and duty. Why were the neighbors, as reported, so afraid to intervene and take on Suttles?

Again, he’s lucky I wasn’t there to take him on–I’ve done similar things before.

I defy Suttles, his lawyer, or anyone else to find any jury that would then convict me of any crime or find me civilly liable for anything. If anyone really thinks that they or anyone could, let them explain why on this blog.

Petition is at 789 as of 2:00 PM 8/21/09: This is great. Thanks. Let's keep posting, and Please fax, or call. If you mail, send so the USPO will guarantee Monday 8/24 delivery.

For convenience here is the contact info again:

    William Thompson

    County Attorney

    104 North Main Street

    Somerset KY 42501

    Phone: 606-679-4449

    Fax: 606-678-2635

One Note: We have until Monday only, to get the plea to Mr. Thompson to agree that the charge be changed to a Felony – Class D, under Romeo's Law (KRS 525.135). There is a meeting on Tuesday between the the DA (who wants to keep the charge as a misdemeanor) and the Pulaski County Humane Society and other concerned Citizens who feel that it should be prosecuted as the FELONY that it should be. This is why Romeo's Law was passed by the Kentucky Legislature and signed into law by the Governor.

A misdemeanor charge or a FELONY. Fax, Call or Monday delivery mail. For Bowser, for justice, for abused dogs everywhere.

Thanks again for all your comments! The TV story was great! And Mr. Suttles reminded me of Charles Manson. Scary huh? But it fits. Suttles is a sociopath and so is Manson.

Sunday night, I will copy all comments here, and the entire petition, and send to Cindy (interviewed on TV who alerted me to this abuser!) to take to the DA. We have not been able to get email addy either, so in the interest of time, we sent the petition around without it. But if you post here, I will copy all comments and the comments will make it to the DA!

We are also asking that Romeo's Law be considered. I do want to let everyone know that this appears to be a jury trial and one juror not concurring could throw the whole thing out! So, sometimes the DAs have to go for charges that they believe a jury will convict on. It's not always ideal, but it is reality.

URGENT BOWSER UPDATE: I have just received an e-mail form the Pulaski County Humane Society. It reads in part as follows:

"I have talked with the Assistant County Attorney, and he is all in favor of having this case tried as a felony. However, in order to do so, it must go through the Commonwealth Attorney's office. They are meeting Monday to see if the Commonwealth Attorney is willing to take the case. If so, the case will be given to him.

Consequently, at this time, I see no great value in contacting the County Attorney's office, as they are already more than happy to pass the case along to the Commonwealth Attorney"

SO: Please hold all call, faxes and mail to the DA's office so as not to create additional work for them. As they are in support of having this moved foward as a felony, they will have plenty of work to do before the Monday meeting.

Please be sure to post this same request and information to all you sent it to and to all the sites were you have posted. A big THANK YOU to everyone, keep on signing the petition and urging others to do so. The Petition is now at 843. Closing in on 1,000

This creep needs to be thrown in jail and left there to rot! What will he do next? How can any decent person do this to any animal? We have had enough of animal cruelty – this poor dog did nothing nothing nothing and to have been tortured and suffered throughout his life and then to have died this way is unconscionable – such egregious cruelty inflicted by this lowlife is unacceptable! We want justice – it is time the courts did the right thing – this sort of maniac is a menace to society – if he can do this to an innocent animal what will he do next? Please let his creep rot in jail!

  • Big Mike

No one has the right to cause pain to any other person or animal. People get punished when we as a society feel the need to change their behavior, but an animal is here as a trusting soul.

Petition Update: NOW STANDS AT 1,044 signatures a 2:00 AM EST 8/23. What a great job everyone in getting the word out. Lets see if we can push the word a bit more and gently remind some of our contacts. With luck we can add several hundred more before the PCHS complaintants meet with the Commonwealth Attorney's office on Tuesday to see if they can accept this case to be prosecuted as the FELONY charge it so rightfully deserves. Romeo's Law – His suffering means Justice for others.

    Justice for Bowser,

Justice for all victims of abuse,

    Jail for the abusers.

  • I just twittered out a plea again to get people to sign. Will do so again tomorrow and Monday. Thanks for the reminder.

      Thanks Cher,

Our lives get so busy it is easy to have even important things slip by. I just remembered that my gas bill was due yesterday…LOL. And for those of us who are out there working for and defending the animals, there are always more needs than there are people to fill them. So we have to be twice as diligent. THANKS

He is a killer…the courts are over looking the mental illness this man has…they are giving him a slap on the wrist….people like that will kill a child or adult…I can't believe he is out of jail…usually when this happens they move on to humans a proven fact this is the beginning of a killer … the children in the neighborhood are not safe..I hope and pray some one will put this man away for good. Before it is to late and another life is taken.

I would love to see this sick SOB BURNED alive. Better yet, roasted over a spit. This is just sickening. Don't understand why no one stepped in. Hope this haunts them forever. I'm at a loss for words. I'm so upset.

  • Arlene Sphikas

Anyone who can commit a crime of such inhumane proportions deserves the maximum penalty. This man is a momster and his crimes will just continue if he is released from jail. He is a total psychopath.

  • John

This is a real problem here in Daviess County as well where animals and the owners of the animals receive NO help when their pets are mistreated, abused, harassed or even killed. I myself have had a dog poisoned by a "sweet elderly lady" and nothing will be done. I pray and grieve for the pets and owners every day who's lives are kept captive by neighbors who are animal haters. This poor dog will get my signature and I will forward it to as many friends as possible.

  • Bre

why can't something happen to the cops that were told to report to his house some nights/days and simply just brushed it off? i think something should be done to them as well as Settles.

  • Liz

I agree with those who had expected and hoped justice would be served in Suttles' case and in that of the cops who brushed it off. The lack of justice is as tragic as the specific horrible crime.
