Zak, a one year old Basenji mix, was stranded in Omaha, NE after the death of his owner, 59-year-old Robert Shields of Poway, CA. Shield had a heart attack and his big rig went off the road and hit a bridge support.
Luckily for Zak, the Nebraska Humane Society came to his rescue. Shield’s wife desperately wanted Zak home so the humane society put out a call for help and American Airline answered that call. They are footing the bill to get Zak back with his family.
There is no doubt it will be a bittersweet reunion….

WTG American Airlines! I’m sure it WILL be bittersweet for Zak and his mommy.
I cannot imagine what Zak went thru when he was with his owner when he died. That poor baby; but actually, I am sure with Zak back home with family, it will be much easier for him to cope with his loss(along with the family’s loss). I am so grateful for the Nebraska Humane Society and American Airlines. I am happy to see when others reach out and help our four legged friends.
BLESS ZAK
