Glynn Johnson – And the Verdict is…. GUILTY! YES!

Glynn JohnsonI know that, like me, many of you have been following Glynn Johnson’s brutal killing of 6-month-old puppy, Karley, from the beginning, hoping and praying for justice.  Well, we are one step closer to justice for Karley with Johnson’s guilty verdict today!!  Yes!  After less than 3 hours deliberation the jury returned a guilty verdict on both counts, felony animal cruelty and a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon against the puppy.

Johnson faces up to 4 years in prison. Sentencing is to take place on March 8.

Needless to say, the Toole’s are pleased with the verdict;

“It’s very emotional. We knew all along he was guilty, but you have to convince 12 jurors of that and … they were right and justified to come to that verdict,” said Shelly Toole.

“We’re just very happy that this stage is done,” added her husband, Jeff Toole. “We knew all along what Glynn was guilty of. It won’t bring Karley back, but justice will be served, and our family can move forward.”

Now we just have to wait and see if there will be a true Justice for Karley. I don’t hold my breath for a max sentence although that would be nice even though that doesn’t even come close to justice for the cruelty and suffering Johnson inflicted on an innocent puppy, but I sincerely hope for more than a “slap on the wrist” sentence.

During the trial, Johnson’s lawyers spoke about his years of service and dedication as a firefighter, wonder if they bothered to mention all the problems and trouble that surrounded him for years that showed in many comments from fellow firefighters shortly after this horrific incident. Wonder if they mentioned that a group of retired LA Firemen have created a fund to help with legal expenses for the Tooles.  That’s right, the Tooles, not Glynn Johnson.  That kind of says something in itself when rather than back and support “one of their own” they are actually supporting the family who is bringing charges against a fellow firefighter.

Glynn Johnson & pics on injured thumbThere is no defense for the brutality Johnson inflicted on Karley. He says that Karley was a “vicious” dog that attacked him and latched onto his thumb, practically severing it, talked about bites to his arms, hands and legs. Now remember, this was a 6-month-old puppy and Johnson didn’t even have to insinuate himself into the situation at all. The Toole’s neighbor was carrying the puppy back home when Johnson intervened and this was after problems and complaints between the Toole’s and Johnson.  Why would he go out of his way unless…. well, you think about it and see what you come up with.

So even if you actually believe Johnson’s story, that the puppy “latched onto his thumb,” no one put him into the position but himself by taking Karley.

And Karley… Karley was brutalized, she suffered a broken jaw, nose, crushed skull and lost an eye. The vet said she would have faced permanent brain damage before the family decided to put her to sleep.

“I’ve never seen a dog come in with that level of head injury,” said Dr. Howard. “I’ve seen pets who have been hit by cars and they were thrown by the car and suffered fractures to the nose or skull but I’ve never seen a case where their head was that badly damaged.”

Johnson and his lawyers called the Toole’s neighbors from hell but they are not the ones who have complaints against them for everything from putting dog feces in neighbors’ mailboxes, threatening other neighbors’ pets, shooting and blinding a neighbor’s dogs, just to mention a few things.

Yes, I think we all know who the neighbor from hell was, this monster who brutally beat a puppy out of some kind of vengeance or vendetta and now the whole world knows him for the guilty waste of human life he is.  We can only hope that justice will truly be served for Karley!

I am very pleased with the verdict. Now I just hope he gets at least one night in jail and becomes Bubba’s girlfriend for the night!

  • Susie

In memory of Karley, this is a great verdict. Now let’s hope that he must serve time in jail, with a bunch of animal lovers. This waste of space won’t survive a day with Bubba and his animal friends.

This may be a start with our judicial system acknowleging that there is a problem with animal abuse/murder.

It is becomming more and more difficult to brush aside thoughts of vigillanteism.

I have followed this story from the beginning. My husband is a retired, professional firefighter and I was horrified to think that someone who should be looked up to in the community was capable of such violence and cruelty.
A 6 month old puppy….Karley was on this earth for just 24 weeks. What a horror this man is and a disgrace to his job title.

Anything less than a 4yr.sentence is a slap, I wish in the mouth ! It’s time to really nail these Pussheads & give them something to fear !!!

  • excalibur2009

I’ll pass and spare you. My language is a lot worse than usual. I will say I hope he gets a hanging judge.

  • This has been an emotional year waiting for JUstice to be served for Karley,I feel this families pain and I know the hurt they have suffered. I want to say that Im so glad they took a stand & demanded Justice. We are all here for you Mr & Mrs Toole, all the way from Alabama

    love ,JUSTICEFORBABYBOY
    SENDING HUGS YOUR WAY!!!!!

  • Justice must be served! I am happy with the verdict but the sentence should at least be heavier..But well, the important thing is that he is guilty!!!

  • Karen Eastes

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..rot in hell johnson..with the rest of animal abusers….hope u go to prison and you get abused like that poor puppy did!!!!!!!!

  • Karen Eastes

ya know there was a judge and i cant remember where who all animal abusers should get….he believes eye for an eye kinda thing…a woman abandand kittens in the woods..her punishment was having to stay in those very woods overnight alone etc to see how she felt….we need him for every animal case,,,wouldnt that be nice!!!

    • Susie

Karen, wouldn’t it be great to find that judge and have him TEACH the rest of the judicial system a thing or two? Should make him a federal judge, and have all animal abuse cases seen and heard federally, and make him in charge of it all!

Put your thinking cap on Karen – we need to let this judge know we think the world of him!

    • excalibur2009

Those are exactly the kind of judges that are needed, Kudos to that judge : )

    • Randi

Judge Michael Cicconetti from Ohio -Bitch Michelle Murrey abandoned 35 kittens in the woods

  • Sissy

I am so pleased with the verdict and hope this monster serves the maximum. He is a raging psycho ready to explode at any moment. He may have years of wonderful outstanding service but who cares about that?He deserves no leniency or compassion for he showed none to Karley. What he did to that pup is beyond sadistic..RIP Karley, you will never be forgotten sweetness.

  • Shari

This is just another subhuman who got away with stuff before so figured he could do it again. The type that takes out any vengeance he has towards others on their innocent animals. We all know he took this dog to do specifically what he did. I’ve followed this story from the beginning as well and its all very obvious it was premeditated murder..not just animal abuse. No sentence on earth will fit this crime, therefore I hope God shows him no mercy as well.

  • Ashley

My fate in my city and in my state have been restored. Enjoy jail, asshole.

hello.i was a member of the jury that convicted mr. johnson. i have been on 3 other juries, and this one was by far, the easiest deliberations i have been through.i am not even a dog lover, but what i saw in that trial was unbelievable. there was a brutal attack that november day, but mr. johnson was not the victim. how can anyone be so cruel? my heart goes out to the toole family. the press reported that we deliberated for 3 hours? not even close! more like 45 minutes! it was a no brainer!

    • Shari

Thank you for posting here Keith, and letting us know it was a slam dunk to the jury as well. You never know. I have also written the judge at the DA’s office requesting Johnson get the maximum penalty of four years in jail. I doubt he’ll get it, but many people I know have written as well. One of my email friends has been in close contact with the Tooles throughout this mess, so she passed the address around. Anyone who wants to write in, please do.

Thank you Keith and a thanks to all the members of the jury, the prosecution and the judge. You are all great and appreciated.

  • Gypsy

so glad to see him where he belongs, too bad it’s not a life sentence like he gave poor little Karley.

  • babyrenee44

well i think he should get life just like he took that poor little puppy, but i know he want but maybe he will get a good loving roommate in jail that loves animals we can only hope.

  • pistons58

4 years is nothing and sadly, it won’t bring Karley back – BUT – maybe by example it will get the word out – abuse is abuse……animal or human.
May you rott in hell Glenn Johnson

Prayers going out to Karley’s family – may they finally get some peace
