Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Going the Extra Distance to Rescue a Trapped Puppy – Video

Nia McFadden of Omaha, NE was just out walking her 4-month-old Shih Tzu puppy, Cookie, when Cookie took a misstep and wound up in a storm drain.  Toys and treats didn’t work to lure to frightened puppy out so rescuers had to go in and bring her out.

I love these stories, rescues and reunions.  Just gives ya something to smile about with all the horror stories out there! :)

AWWWWW…what a darlin’. Look at that cute little face. I’m so glad she’s okay and Kudo’s to all those that helped to save her! Lucky mom too.

Good story. I am sorry that Cookie had to fall into the drain, but thank all the people that helped rescue her. But one thing about most dogs is that when they usually do something that is unpleasant to them, they don’t do it again. Cookie is so cute.
It’s nice to read a story that doesn’t make you cry or angry.

Cookie is one lucky little pup to have caring, humane people help to rescue her. Great story with a wonderful ending. Cookie has a face that just makes you want to pick her up and give her hugs. Nia is lucky to have her Cookie back, and have folks help rescue her.
