Truman was a therapy dog at the St. Vincent de Paul Resource Center serving Salt Lake’s homeless community and his passing was felt by many of those his life touched and helped.

“I’ve had people who would come who haven’t talked to anyone in a while, but when Truman would come they would talk to him,” says Jim Upton of the St. Vincent de Paul Resource Center.

Many remembered Truman as the friend thay had when they had no other and they gathered together yesterday to mourn at a funeral service for their beloved canine friend.  Truman’s ashes along with a favorite toy were buried beside a tree planted in his memory.

But as one life ends another begins and friends hope that the shelter’s new puppy, Luke, will fill the void Truman left and carry on his legacy. (KSL.com)
