Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Horrific Dog Torture in Detroit

John Delmar FladgerDo you see this face? This vicious monster is John Delmar Fladger, 44, of Detroit, MI. I could say he poured gasoline on his dog and set it on fire and he did, but what he did is so much more depraved than ‘just’ that! If you can get much more depraved. Humane Society employees said was the worst case of torture they have ever seen.

Evon Yusef who witnessed what Fladger did last month at an east side Detroit convenience store had this to say, “Yes, inside the store. He was pouring gas. There was gas all over the place. Customers were scared. They were backing away from him.”Burned and tortured dog

Another witness told a Humane society investigator that he seemed to be showing off for some children, “He was walking down the street, spilling gas at the dog. He was trying to light the dog at the same time he was walking.”

Natatia Nix of the Michigan Humane Society called it one of the worst cases she has ever been a part of.

“The (Humane Society) staff sees everything that comes in. We see the hit-by-a-car dogs, the gunshot dogs, the neglected dogs – every type of abuse,” Nix said. “But this… We were just looking around the room. We were in there with the dog – each of us were crying.”

The poor tortured dog, a shepherd mix, had to be euthanized due to how severe the injuries and burns were. Initial treatments didn’t help said Nix.

During the investigation the owner originally denied hurting the dog although there were many who witnessed the prolonged and numerous attacks, but later pleaded guilty to animal torture and the killing of an animal.

The owner is scheduled to be sentenced later this month. He faces up to four years in prison.

I cannot even imagine the horror this poor dog went through and why did no one step forward and try to stop this man?? I am so stunned by this I hardly know what to say!! And what I am thinking I can’t even write!

  • I wish this nasty disgusting pig that you can’t even call him gets the same thing that he did to that precious dog. What a gross, magot. May the dog rest in peace, and may the ignorant, pig rot in hell.

Once again witnesses who do nothing…
how sad…as they say…can’t remember the source at the moment….they came for the old and I did not speak up because I was not old; they came for the young and I did not speak up because I was not young; they came for the lame and I did not speak up because I was not lame; they came for the poor and I did not speak up because I was not poor; then they came for me………and there was no one left to speak up for me!……..this might ring a bell in someone’s memory who is more literate than me…but you get the general idea. Young children will yell and grab and say stop…sooner than adults who should have more strength, character, and conscience. Sad, sad. Whoopie Goldberg just defended Michael Vick on The View yesterday…”well, you have to UNDERSTAND…where he comes from…this is what they do…like cock-fighting in Puerto Rico”….yeah…..nice….and just when you thought THE VIEW….couldn’t sink any lower…..!

At least this ‘animal’ (oops didn’t mean to insult animals) is going to serve JAIL TIME for this despicable cruelty. Hopefully he’ll meet with some animal lovers in jail who decide to take matters in their OWN hands (need I say more).

I’ve also noticed the poor dog did not seem to have a name. It makes me wonder if that animal was even given a name…I think not given the way it was treated as a ‘thing’ not a living feeling creature…how very sad this is.

Concerning ‘The View’..yes I heard what Whoopie had to say as well and couldn’t believe she was actually defending Vick. It just go to show that you can make a ‘defense’ for anything’…….even a WRONG defense. Since ‘when’ does ‘where you’re from’ make something so blatantly WRONG ‘defendable and ‘excusable’? Well from WHERE I come from (i.e. the greatest country on Earth…the United States…a civilized nation) ..killing or torturing a dog (or cat) for ’sport’ IS wrong. I guess poor Whoopie didn’t know that Vick is from the United States…she must have confused him with being from some backward third world nation.
