Perhaps more distressing is the fact that I have seen on the internet several stories where police canines are left in the vehicle with the officer thinking this was safe because they had the air conditioning running. In several cases the air conditoning stopped working and the results were the same -- dead dog. Worse yet is the amount of suffering the animal went through prior to death. Inexcusable.
