Carson Smith lost his temper when his little rat terrier was barking and struck out and hit the dog with a golf club. The dog’s injuries were so severe he had to be euthanized. Smith pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge. He was not charged with a felony because he only hit the dog once.
Sentencing is scheduled for March and Carson faces up to a year in jail. Most likely though he will probably just get a ’slap on the wrist,’ a fine and probation. Guess we’ll find out in March.
Wonder if that works if someone only shoots someone once… or stabs someone once….?

I cannot comprehend how anyone can loose his temper so bad to take a golf club to a little one. This man is very sick, and needs to spend some time in jail thinking about what he has done. This should have been a felony charge. It is murder.
Our country has to take a stand on animal abuse. The slaps on the wrist will do no good when the same person goes out and murders a human being.
