Obama and the Pressing Puppy Matter – VIDEO
Seems the news media is all caught up in the Obamas and their search for a puppy. Obama promised his daughters a puppy after the election and even reiterated the promise during his speech on election night. Now everyone is waiting and wondering… what kind of a dog… where will he get it… what will the pooch’s name be… yada, yada, yada.
Basically the Prez-elect is saying that the requirements are an hypoallergenic dog and a mutt; a shelter or rescue dog, from what I’ve garnered.
Personally I think it’s funny with the whole country to start worrying about, everyone is so interested in the First Dog. Sure, I think it’s great that he’s going to get his daughters’ a dog, I think it’s wonderful that he’s going to go with a mutt and a shelter or rescue dog. It certainly sends a message that needs to be sent. And of course I’m a great advocate for dogs and their welfare, I’m one of the last people who would ever say ‘it’s just a dog.”
But in this time when the country is facing so much, somehow choosing a First Dog, although I would never belittle the importance of canine companions, it’s amusing that the media would make such a big deal out of this. Perhaps it’s just a way to take our minds off of much more weightier issues which are dogging the country.
Anyway, I’m honestly not too much of a ‘political person’ so I think everyone should just let them choose their pooch and stop worrying so much. Looks like he plans to do the ‘right thing’ when it comes to making the choice. So…. here’s a couple of videos about the Prez-elect and the First Dog issue 🙂
PS. It’s not that I don’t care, just that, yes, choosing a dog is important, but it isn’t necessarily a decision that will really affect the whole country and world. To me, it’s more of a personal matter, it’s a family matter… they’re choosing a family member. I don’t remember any other Prez’s pooch being such a big issue.
So, feel free to weigh in with your thoughts on this…
