Once Ice, Now Sarge, Makes a Full Recovery After Horrific Abuse – VIDEO

IceIt’s been almost 3 months since a 3-year-old pitbull named Ice was found near death, chained and imprisoned in an attic in a Berkeley, WV home.  He’d been starved to skin and bones, mouth duct-taped and chained closed, he had open sores on his body and he’d been beaten often and repeatedly.  He weighed only 42 lbs.  Animal control officers called it one of the worst cases of animal abuse they’d ever seen.  There was no doubt that the abuse had been ongoing for some time.

IceIce’s owners, Randall Siford, Jr. and Breshannon Devereux, were arrested and charges with felony animal cruelty which carries a maximum five-year sentence in West Virginia.

Randall SifordSiford and Devereux have yet to face the music for the horrific cruelties they meted out to that defenseless and innocent dog. Siford’s case has been forwarded to circuit court while Devereaux is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge later this month.

As for Ice, he is doing wonderful and has recovered pretty much completely from the abuse he endured. He now weighs a healthy 67 lbs and is happy, spunky and healthy. And best of all, he has a new name, Sarge, a new home and a family that just loves and adores him. A month ago Rusty and Cindy Scaljon adopted him.  He will always bear some physical scars but hopefully with much TLC and some time, he will bear no emotional scars.

“He’s a perfect, happy dog now. You wouldn’t even know that he was in the type of condition he was when we first saw him. It’s just amazing to see how well he’s done,” said Becky Jencks with Martinsburg City Hospital.

Humane officers say no matter the outcome of the case, Ice will never be returned to his previous owners.

What a wonderfully happy ending for this sweet boy. I have been following this since it happened in November and for some reason it was just one of those stories that hit me so hard, just imagining the suffering that poor dog went through at the hands of those monsters. Even being sentenced to the max will not even begin to come close to anything that amounts to justice for what Randall Siford, Jr. and Breshannon Devereux did!

My heart goes out to the gentelman Rusty and his wife Cindy! What did this dog do to the scum bags who tortured him? he obviously was their puncing bag for when they ran out of drugs!!! People like that will have their judgement day in front of our Creator because He gave us these majestic animals for us to love and care for and He will want an answer!

  • Chris

What a fantastic ending to such a cruel start. Cheers to all that helped this beautiful dog.

I just love happy endings! Especially when it ends well for a pit bull! And I commend the couple that adopted this precious baby. They are going to be repaid 100 times over by Sarge who will love them and be devoted to them for the rest of his life. He is just beautiful and so happy!

Sarge, certainly deserves a happy ending considering the hell his life has been and there is no doubt his new owners will be repaid in love and tons of sloppy kisses for years to come. :)

Ok, Sarge is thinking in the video “hmm, wonder if she has any treats….ummm; how about you? mmmmmm;” and so on! He does not even look like the same dog when he was found. Now, with love, compassion and understanding, Sarge will have a wonderful loving life with his new family. Kudos to his adoptive parents. He certainly looks like one happy little boy! You can see the love in his eyes when he goes to visit and greet everyone in the video. I did not see the tail stop for one minute!

As for the previous owners, like Jowan had mentioned, they both will have to answer to Him. They might not get the sentence by the Judge that we would all like to see, but it will come around and bite them in the rear (no pun intended) when they both try to get into the gates of Heaven.

He does look happy, doesn’t he? :D Everyone there does just to see how spunky he is and he certainly is a wiggle-butt. What a beautiful boy!

Definitely agree, whether now or later, they will pay. I would like to see the “sentence” start sooner rather than later, but…..

I can’t understand how subhuman’s can get away with this torture against inocent animals. I hope that there are animal lovers somewhere who will extract from these 2 beasts their due punishment. Again I am more then willing to contribute money to this effect.

I hope they burn in hell!!

As it was once said from a reader on this site….”You can’t fix stupid, you have to kill it.” I say, that’s what we do to these POS scum bags. Damn them! Damn them to hell!! MAN! I despise these waste of human flesh in our society! We need to cut the population down anyway. I’m so glad Sarge got a good home and has a chance at TRUE happiness and love. God Bless you Rusty and Cindy…two more Angels in our presence…..YEA!

  • Yvonne

Those two a**holes don’t deserve to take up oxygen on our planet! DAMN them both to hell!!! and wish they would get stuck in an attic. Beaten, starved and duct taped for a prolonged period. Too bad they can’t be hanged, drawn and quartered. DAMN THEM BOTH!!!!!!

  • MOE

Kudos to Rusty and Cindy. You have made Sarge a very happy dog and he will repay you many times. As for the POS that did this, we can only pray they get more than they deserve. I wonder what they would do if their mouths were duct taped and chained.. Would like to find out. God forgives a lot of things, but I know deep down inside, he just won’t forgive some and these people are defininately on the list of those not to be forgiven. I don’t even think Satan would want them, so burn them and put their ashes in the worst place there is. I hope they rot.

Good to know this one got a new beginning and a wonderful new home. These cases are as heartbreaking as the one we currently have here the skinned boddies of three whippets were found in Dokkersdalen Jutland by coupel out walking their dogs. The whippets can´t identified as ears have been removed on all three of them. I hope the monsters who did this are found and dealt with. However that hope diminsishes from day to day the only thing that can be done is give these nameless whippets a name and thus a voice. I have named them Triacel,Treasure and Terry. They were robbed of their lives and identities on November 9-2009. Source of this case: Dyrenes Beskyttelse Nordjylland and tv2 text tv. I will always remember this forgotten trio of whippets and thus give them dignity and identity the things that was so cruelly taken from them.Sincerly Lisbeth Mønsted Larsen Greyhound Action Denmark. Rest in peace little ones and play at the rainbow bridge.

Hopefully they both will get abused, raped, beaten and what ever else can be done if and when they ever go to jail!
