Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

PA Puppy Mill Bill Out of Committee, Heads to House

In a 17-12 vote on Wednesday, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee is forwarding the “puppy mill bill,” H.B. 2525, to the House floor.

Voting broke down sharply along party lines; only one Republican voted with the unanimous Democrats for the bill that will make sweeping changes to the commercial dog breeding industry in the “Puppy Mill Capital” of the east.

The sweeping legislation is aimed at stemming abuses by large breeding operations called “puppy mills” by opponents. It is supported by Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell but has faced strong opposition from groups who say the measure goes too far.

Pennsylvanians, please continue to contact your legislators, especially Republicans, and let them know that you support H.B. 2525. Don’t stop now! Don’t give up!

CONTINUE TO TAKE ACTION
Please make a brief, polite phone call to urge your Representative to support H.B. 2525. Find your Respesentative HERE.

When you call, you will likely speak to a staff member who will pass your message along to your representative. Remember to be polite and professional, and leave your name and address so it
is clear that you are a constituent. You can say:

“Hello, my name is [your name] and I am calling from [your city] to ask Representative [name] to support H.B. 2525 to overhaul the Dog Law and give stronger protections for dogs in breeding facilities. It’s time to crack down on puppy mills in Pennsylvania. Thank you.”

After making your call, please send a follow-up email to your Representative in support of H.B. 2525: HERE.

And don’t forget to tell your friends and family in Pennsylvania how they can take action, too: HERE!

Please, please, please! Continue to get the word out! Send this to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. Pennsylvanians, you must stand up for what you know is right!
