Police Search for Man Who Abandoned and Ran Over Puppies
Instead of taking the time to surrender the 12 week old boxer mix puppies to an animal shelter, a man dumped the box of puppies on White Road, near Hwy. 314, Fayette County, GA. The man, described only as a white male driving an older model green Jeep Cherokee that has several dents, ran over the box when fleeing the scene. One of the four tiny abandoned puppies sustained serious injuries and is in critical condition at a local veterinarian.
This incident took place on February 17th at approximately 11 am and now the Fayette County Animal Control staff is seeking the public’s assistance in finding the man who abandoned and ran over the litter of puppies near Ga. Highway 314.
Deliberately releasing a dog with the intention of leaving it in a public or private establishment without consent is a misdemeanor under Georgia law. Any person found violating this law is subject to a fine of $1,000 and up to three months in jail per offense.
The Fayette County Animal Control staff is currently requesting any information regarding the incident and the whereabouts of this individual. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call Fayette County Animal Control at 770-631-7210.
