Puppy Thrown from Truck, Police Searching for Information
This adorable little chow puppy, approximately 8 weeks old, was thrown out of a moving truck last Tuesday near Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Police want to know who did this.
The description of the vehicle from Sgt. Steve Ingham of the Ontario Provincial Police is, “It’s a full-sized black GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck. It’s believed there were two occupants in the vehicle at the time.”
If found, the suspects could face cruelty to animal charges. The penalty if convicted is a $2,000 fine, six months in jail, or both.
The puppy also shows evidence of prior abuse. He was severely underweight and malnourished. Luckily, the puppy was not harmed from the fall and with a few days of good care is already showing signs of doing much better.
“Look at this guy,” said Elizabeth Bonkink of the Guelph Humane Society, cradling the puppy in her arms.
“Why anybody wouldn’t want him is beyond me.”
Guelph Humane Society officials would also like the good Samaritans who saw the dog land on the ground and called police to contact them.
“If they would like to come forward, we would love to hear from them and give some information about how the pup is doing. It would be nice to thank them,” said Bonkink.
She also says if the owners of the dog had just brought them the puppy, they could have given it up without any consequences at all rather than face animal cruelty charges as they will be now if and when identified.
