Recall Update – T.W. Enterprises Recalls Dog Chews

Is this ever going to end?? One recall after another! It has gotten to the point you have to be afraid to feed you canine companion anything that you don’t personally make yourself!!

Here’s the latest recall. Thanks DogChannel.com for keeping us updated!

T.W. Enterprises Recalls Dog Chews

Products, including small to jumbo dog chews, could be contaminated with Salmonella.

T.W. Enterprises is recalling certain dog chews it markets because samples of the product tested by U.S. Food & Drug Administration indicate that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella.

This is at least the third time in less than two years that T.W. Enterprises of Ferndale, Wash., has recalled products due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Earlier this month, the company recalled several types of bull pizzle dog and puppy chews, and in June 2005, the company pulled its entire line of dog and cat treats.

There are no reports of illness to date in connection with the possible contamination, however consumers who have the chews should not feed them to their dogs or puppies. The treats should be disposed of in a securely covered trash receptacle.

Salmonella can potentially be transferred to people handling these pet treats, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Anyone who has handled any of these chews and has Salmonella infection symptoms should seek medical attention, and make a report to the nearest FDA office.

Dogs and people with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some dogs will have decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.

The following is a list of the recalled products:
A.B. Small Chew, 3 – 4 inch. Product code 833234001105.
A. B. Puppy Chew, 4 – 6 inch. Product code 83323401112.
Dog Chew Medium, 6 inch. Product code 833234001051.
Dog Chew Large, 10 inch. Product code 833234001068.
Dog Chew XL, 13 inch. Product code 833234001075.
Dog Chew Mega, 16 inch. Product code 833234001082.
Dog Chew Jumbo, 26 inch. Product code 833234001099.

The affected products were manufactured and distributed by T.W. Enterprises before March 22, 2007 to retail locations, and are non-coded, meaning they have no batch code or other identifying marks.
