Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Show Support: Washington Co. Humane Society Holds Meeting With Legislators and Reps. From The WI Puppy Mill Project

Wish I’d have come across this earlier!

From Best Friends Network
Meeting on Monday, May 14 at 7:00pm

by MJ Smith, Best Friends Network

State representatives from the Washington County area will be at the Washington County Humane Society to discuss the lack of state regulations for puppy mills in Wisconsin on May 14 at 7:00 pm.

Members of the humane society, along with representatives from the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project are joining forces to call for the re-introduction of the Pet Facilities Law, a bill that would regulate large-scale breeding and selling of companion animals in Wisconsin.

This bill was introduced in 2002, but there was strong opposition from Wisconsin dog breeders’ lobby, and consequently the bill failed. Reintroduced in the 2003-2004 legislative session, the bill was blocked and did not reach the legislative floor.

The discussion comes as a result of TMJ4’s I-Team Report: Puppy Mills, which aired over a five-day period beginning Thursday, April 26.

The discussion is open to the public and will be held at Washington County Humane Society at 3650 State Road 60 Slinger, WI.

Public support is needed for this roundtable discussion on ways to regulate these situations, and help breeding animals of Wisconsin!
