Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Sick Dog Abandoned – VIDEO

sick-newfoundland-abandonedLook at this sweet Newfoundland.  Can you imagine someone just abandoning him in the Lincoln Woods in RI?  He’s sick and in need of medical help but was left to fend for himself.

Luckily, a Good Samaritan found the dog while walking her own and called animal control who picked him up.  The dog, named Marshal, who is about 4-5 years old, had a large tumor on his stomach and another on his shoulder.

He just looks so sad and pathetic, it breaks my heart.

The SPCA is trying to track down the owner of the dog who may face charges.

“We just want to make sure that if anyone recognizes the dog, please don’t hesitate to call the police, whoever did leave him in this condition to make sure they are prosecuted, there are plenty of rescues out there if you’re looking for help, if you need assistance. Please do not dump them in the woods anywhere,” says Officer Llink.

People who do this should face some serious charges. Dogs cannot fend for themselves, especially sick dogs who have been neglected so badly for so long. You just want to smack the hell out of someone and ask them what could they possibly have been thinking. Have they no heart at all?? Look at this dog! OMG! It just makes me so angry…

I found an update on the sweetie and it seems he is doing pretty well, on antibiotics, eating and will have his tumors removed. Definitely hoping this guy recovers and finds the kind of home he so deserves after the tough time he has been through. :)

I can’t believe that anyone would abandon a dog that has obviously been in their family, just because it was sick. Maybe one day they will get sick and their loved ones will abandon them. A pet is part of a family. Like people, they can’t determine if they are going to stay healthy or get ill. I hope someone has the guts to come forward and nail this creep for what they have done. Our lab just had pups and they found a cyst on her uterus and the cost was high to biopsy it, but I didn’t care, she deserves all the best I can give her, she is part of this family. Somehow we need to get the word out that there is ALWAYS something that can be done. What has happened to us as Americans that we would do such awful things?

I don’t think it is just Americans who have lost sight of their four legged family members. I think this is a world wide problem. As for this knucklehead who left this beautiful baby to fend for himself, once found, should be prosecuted to the fullest for abandonment, negligence, and animal abuse. How could someone do that? I would be the first one in line to tell them how important these furry family members are. This sweetie needed medical help; and this jerk turns his back? I hope his family members turn their backs on him(her) when they need medical help.

I am sure that someone will give this baby the home he deserves with all the love, attention and devotion due him. Hopefully he will learn what true love is from a family or person that has the love to give him.

If the owner of the poor baby is never found, we can only hope that Karma steps in and kicks some @$$.

Obviously I deplore any kind of abuse but to just abandon an obviously sick and helpless dog, is just so cruel. Luckily someone came by and noticed him and cared enough to take the time to do something rather than just walk by.

This guy is now learning the meaning of love and caring and I have no doubt he will find a wonderful family who will show him the meaning of being a part of a real family.

There are times when I think think things are moving ahead for animal welfare issues, and I really like to think they are but there are times when the true heartlessness of people are what you see again and again. Sad… just sad!

    D.
