Three Teens Accused of Burning Dog Alive – GA Animal Rescuers Say One of the Worst Cases of Animal Cruelty Ever Seen

This horrific story is from Georgia and is what animals rescuers there are saying is one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they have ever seen! Three teenage boys, two 14 and one 13 were charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

I don’t understand what is going through the minds of kids these days! I seem to be reading and posting story after story about teens committing these atrocities; Alamogordo Teens Try to Kill Puppy and Didsbury Canada Dog Abuse Story! What in today’s society breeds children that can do things like this?!?

3 teens accused of burning dog alive

The Associated Press – MACON, Ga.
Three teens are accused of burning a dog alive in what animal rescuers from central Georgia called one of the worst examples of animal cruelty in they have ever seen.

The charred and fatally injured animal was found Tuesday afternoon in a south Macon woman’s backyard after her own dogs began barking, police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said.

“She opened the door and saw flames,” Hofmann said.

The woman called 911 and used a garden hose on the fire until firefighters arrived, Hofmann said.

Not until the flames disappeared did they realize it was a dog.

“It was still alive,” Hofmann said.

A chain around the dog’s neck had become entangled in a patch of bushes as it ran into the yard ablaze. A charred path of grass led into the yard from the road.

Emergency workers tried to save the dog, but Hofmann said it died soon after the flames were extinguished. She said the dog might have been part bulldog mixed with another breed.

Hofmann said three boys _ two of them 14 and one 13 _ were charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals. She said an empty lighter fluid bottle was found was near the crime scene, but police aren’t sure whether it was used to set the dog on fire.

Jackie Brantley of Greyhounds Galore, an animal rescue organization that fosters and then finds homes for retired racing greyhounds, said Tuesday’s animal cruelty case is one of the worst she’s ever heard of.

Donna Conaway, a board member of the Heart of Georgia Humane Society, said animal cruelty is becoming more and more common.

“It’s sad that someone would take that kind of aggression against a defenseless animal,” she said. “I don’t understand why anyone would do that.”

As studies again and again show, the children that do this today are the one who populate our jails and prisons tomorrow for violent crimes.
