EllieEllie, the 11 yr old whippet miniature greyhound that was stolen out of her owners’ Cape Coral yard is home! 🙂

On June 25th, Chris Mynhier says he let Ellie, outside to use the restroom on Monday – just like he did everyday but unlike everyday she wasn’t there when he went to let her in.  He search for her everywhere and it wasn’t til the following day that  a neighbor told him that he saw someone grab Ellie and take off with her.

Possibly reacting to the publicity from The News-Press and television, thieves let Ellie loose in Cape Coral, said her owner Chris Mynhier.

A stranger found the dog and turned her in to Chiquita Animal Hospital. The hospital called Mynhier and a family reunion was arranged.

The Cape has had an increase of reported dog thefts since 2005, when two dogs were reported stolen. That grew to 11 reports in 2006.

So far this year, five have been reported stolen, said Dyan Lee, Cape Coral police spokeswoman.  (The News-Press)

It’s nice to see a happy ending here! Now if all these stories like this could have a happy ending too.
