Update on Rex, Dog Taped to the Refrigerator
A week after little Rex’s horrible experience of being bound and tied and taped to the side of a refrigerator by Abby Toll, the little guy is doing much better. He’s been placed with a foster family in the Denver area who also has other rescue Shibu Inus.
“I think he’s adjusting as best as we could have hoped,” Lisa Pedersen, chief executive officer of the Humane Society said. “Our goal is that he has a very happy ending and we think that is very possible.
The dog’s owner, Bryan Beck, gave up custody of Rex after the incident and the foster family could adopt Rex within a week or so if things work out.
Abby Toll who is charged with felony animal cruelty is facing up to 18 months in jail for her part in taping the dog to the fridge and University of Colorado at Boulder, where she is a student, plans to examine the case and Toll may be expelled.
Free on a $12,500 bond, Toll was also charged with third-degree assault and tampering in connection with the fight, plus two felony drug counts because police said she brought heroin to the Boulder County Jail when she was booked.
Bryan Beck, Rex’s owner, has been ticketed on suspicion of misdemeanor animal abuse.
A Chihuahua named Peanut, which was originally identified as belonging to Toll but which actually belonged to Beck, was also surrendered and has been placed with a foster family as well.
Looks like it will be a happy ending for Rex and Peanut that to me is the most important thing! What a cute little guy Rex is! 🙂
