Passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere, it's my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Woman Finds Dog Hanged in Her Yard

Can you possibly imagine how you would feel if you returned home to find your beloved dog had been cruelly hanged and killed for no reason? This is what on South Bend, Indiana woman came home to. How horrible and sad…. both the the woman and the poor innocent dog. They are both the victims of some twisted person’s cruelty.

A LaPorte woman returned home to find her dog hanged from a backyard swing set.

So far, no suspects were reported but police are trying to get to the bottom of the dog’s killing.

“There is somebody doing cruel things to animals and I think they should be made to pay for it,” said LaPorte Police Chief of Detectives Dennis Behenna.

About 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the woman who lives in the 400 block of Niesen Street reported she was out of town for a day and left a friend in charge of watching her Pekingese.

When she arrived home, she spotted her pet dangling from a chain that was fastened to the top of a backyard swing set.

According to police, her friend apparently checked on the dog and left the animal on a backyard leash that was hooked up to a run as the dog owner had requested.

“This is not something I believe that the animal accidentally did,” said Behenna.

Under Indiana law, animal cruelty is a Class D felony punishable by as much as three years in prison.

“This is the first time I’ve seen something like this in my history in the department,” said Behenna, a more than 20-year member of the force. (South Bend Tribune)

Yes, somebody definately needs to pay alright!  You have to wonder if someone can do something like this to a defenceless and innocent animal, what comes next??
