Seriously ill pets saved by Brown Dog Foundation

Whitland Avenue resident’s group pays vet bills if family can’t

Brown Dog FoundationWhen Carol Smock’s dog, Chocolate Chip, died from lymphoma last May, she did what most pet owners do — she grieved. Then the Whitland Avenue resident turned her sorrow into a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation.

Now her chocolate Labrador’s legacy lives on through Brown Dog Foundation, which she created to help families who can’t afford lifesaving treatments for their pets.
“The mission of Brown Dog is to ensure family pets don’t have to be unnecessarily euthanized at a time when the family may be struggling temporarily,” Smock said.

The really scary thing for me here is that I feed my Jezzie and Bruti Natural Balance along with a homemade diet! Buggin Luckily I haven’t been using this formula. I think I’m going to be going completely homemade with everything that’s going on. Who knows what they’re going to be adding to the list next?Question Mark

If you read the Post ‘German Shepherd Hero’ and wondered what happened ‘after the story’, well I found a nice follow-up story from RegisterNews.com.

Greatest Online Community for Dogs!!

Ok, last Thanksgiving, 2006, I was just sitting home with my kids and watching the dog show on TV.  Now, I’m not much of a TV watcher but who can resist a dog show?? :D  So anyway heard a promo for Dogster, among many others, and for some reason it caught my attention and I decided to check it out.

Turned out to be about the greatest online site for dogs and dog lovers you can possibly imagine!!!  It’s like Friendster or MySpace for dogs.  You can meet alot of other dog-minded people, get great information on anything from health and nutrition to laws and legislation to grooming and training and behavior.  It also functions as an adoption and rescues site.  And to top all of that off, it’s free!!! Yup, costs nothing to join up and be a member!

At of this date, there’s about 275 thousand (yup, thousand!) dogs with an average of about 400-500 more added everyday!

So, if you’re interested in fun and frivolity, or looking for some great information, or want to get involved with helping rescues, or are looking to adopt a new family member, plus much, much more…. check out Dogster!

And if you want a tickle and a laugh, check my Jezzie and Bruti’s fun Dogster pages!! 😀
